What is the ideal tire and wheel size?

    I'm running 33x12.50x15 KO ATs. The tires look great but i don't get the best gas mileage. I guess that's the price you pay for looks but just thought I'd ask what you guys are running and how you feel about it.

    You won't see tire size discussed much on this site. You might have better luck elsewhere.

    A lot of that would depend on what you want to use the truck for. A daily driver would be ideal with X tire, but it would be a different story with a truck that is for rock crawling

    Since your trucks lifted a 33 is what a lot of guys run after they lift their truck. You could try a skinnier tire that won’t be as heavy or as wide like a 33x10.5 or just go to a smaller tire over all. But it’d probably be tough to go down in tire size after having a 33 and I doubt the gas mileage would be a big enough jump to make that change. I think your pretty much at or near the the perfect inbetween being between a bigger 35 and smaller 31.

    BFG still makes a 33x10.5r15 and that's what I'd probably go with. Less unsprung weight/rotational mass will help your mpgs. I have 31x10.5r15s and they look great on a stock height truck, but I think anything smaller than 33 might look a little awkward since you obviously have a lift of some kind.

    The in between usually is the all terrain tires, size is just personal preference.

    BUT since
    Your running 33’s you’ve entered the smiles per gallon, to be more effiecent spg just Keep adding mods

    It will be a compromise, as with anything.

    I run 265/75r16 BFG KOs. Great tires, good on and off road performance, not great at eiher.

    Figure out how much you plan to drive off and on road, and go from there. If you drive mostly on road, the A/Ts are your best bet.

    So, compromise #1: jack of all trades, master of none - the all terrain.

    Compromise #2: MPGs. Mud terrains. Because you wheel a lot and want better traction over street mpg.

    Compromise #3: big spender. Get a set for off road, and a set of street slicks.

    I run 235/ 85 R 16's KO2's and really like them. They don't rub at all and they fit in the spare location perfectly with out rubbing on the axle (like my 33x10.50x15's did back in the day). I run these tires as load range E as I like their tough sidewalls (after tearing two sidewalls on General Grabber AT2's on back to back Baja trips).

    Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
    IMO if you are running stock gearing and you have the V6 don't go bigger than 32". I run 265/75/16. Seems to be just right. I can still off-road and drive the interstate and it doesn't seem to sacrifice any MPG. The only reason I care about mPG really though on my pickup is to monitor how it's doing. Sudden drop means something is broke. you know - common thing on older vehicles. 33" tires look great but with IFS you can only go so high before the angle on the CV axles gets too much and who wants to change those things out all the time? ;)

    4 cylinder Tacos I'd only go 31" Max. Big tires tend to wear everything out faster but that is the fun of it all right? lol
