I’ve had my ‘17 pro for about 8 months or so now, almost 11k miles on it. Does anyone else have an issue with how much it sways on the highway? The least amount of wind and it blows me all over the place. I know the suspension is softer than sport/OR/SR but it’s a lot of sway. Even just slow driving, tapping the brakes to start slowing down the nose dive is really noticeable.

I had a 92 pickup and an 06 OR and I don’t remember there being any issues with it out of the norm. I mean a minor wind on the highway is pulling me out of my lane. I drove my dads 13 sport yesterday and it was way more stable on the highway.

Everyone else with the pro suspension or a pro have the same experience? I had toyota align it when it had only 50 miles right after I bought it new because it was pulling. Doesn’t pull anymore, just wanders and gets blown all around. Wondering if something is still messed up.

Take it back and have them check caster. More positive caster = more stable on highway. Less caster makes things twitchy. Take it in and before you go, google "caster."

I've noticed both the highway sway and nose dive while braking on my 18 Pro. I just thought it was due to the suspension and ride height.

I've had this problem since day two... day one I was too excited to notice on my brand new 2018 TRD off road. I HATE the way this thing drives. I've driven Ford F150's and F250's, Dodge 1500's, 2500's, and Chevy/GMC 1500's and 2500's and I've never had such a horrible tracking/wander/sway problem. I take it back, my last vehicle was a 2006 Dodge 2500 4x4 Cummins with 311K miles on it, that had road wander. But those trucks are known for doing this after 100k and is fixed by replacing ball joints and tie rod ends. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH A BRAND NEW TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 800 MILES ON IT!!!! It also had a pull to the left on flat roads. Took it to the dealership for service last week. They did an alignment and cross rotated to tires. Now it wanders and pulls to the right. Took it back the same day and told them it was still doing it. They said they were having a problems with one of the tires and they replaced it. Picked it up and guess what.... still pulls to the right and still have the wander/tracking issue. I'm sending a letter to the manufacture requesting they buy the truck back from me under the "Lemon Law". I will not drive around in a truck this dangerous.

I have this issue as well with my '17. I was curious if adding a rear sway bar would help, but I've read several posts today that make me thing I need to get it aligned. I'm actually really surprised this thing doesn't have a rear sway bar, every vehicle I've owned has had one. I assumed it was because "TRD PRO" or some such, but even with the alignment I'm thinking a sway bar with disconnects would be better?

I think I read a post that someone makes a rear sway bar for these trucks. Yes I want it for playing in dirt, but I still have to get to work which is about 10 miles at 80MPH in a windy part of the country.

My previous 18 pro and now 17 OR drive straight as an arrow (stock alignment). Steering wheels were crooked on both but i fixed that myself.

First, check tire pressure. The 30psi is just way too soft for the stock wranglers. They are already soft sidewalls and having that low of pressure will make it feel like that. When i had my method wheels put on the tire shop put the pressure at 30psi. I had to drive from the tire shop to a small town for work about an hour away. All rural highway, I could definitely tell the tires were low and soft and it gave that wondering / swaying feeling on the road.

Once i got home I bumped them to 35psi and it's perfect.

As others have stated, an alignment is next. Caster doesn't really effect anything besides steering effort (it does effect things but not that most people would notice besides steering effort). Toe and Camber are what will effect the truck being straight and/or wondering on the road.

Toe should be zero on both sides or as close to zero as possible with the thrust angle being as close to 0 as possible. Camber on these trucks I've seen too often be positive, should really be 0 or -1*. Be sure to get a print out and make sure they have camber as close to the same on both sides. Some techs just get lazy and wait til it's green and that's it. Get a print out and if you don't like the numbers, tell them to get to specific numbers.

You can also ask when the last time their alignment machine was calibrated. I'm not sure of the interval but they do need to be maintained.

Thanks for the input everyone. Seems like some people have same problems while others have none. I will put a little more air in the tires, I have been running them at 32. Also might swing into the dealer again. Rear diff is screaming when off the throttle too. Again. They already replaced the rear diff once.

The Pro is actually a bit stiffer than the OR.

As far as sway, I'd say a good bit is to be expected with the platform. It's a (relatively) long travel suspension on a (relatively) lightweight platform that's not aerodynamic at all.

Steering sway and twitch has been present on mine since day one also. The nose diving when braking is simply due to the nature of the suspension, so thats not an issue. Every vehicle does it, but the extent of it is dependent on the suspension. I'm going to have the dealer check alignment again soon. Might try upping tire pressures from 32 to 35.
