I've started switching my equipment over to Makita, and haven't been disappointed yet. So far all I've got is a combo drill, sawzall, light, but they all work well. I haven't really looked into expanding my collection at all because of my experience with the Craftsman C3 kit that I had previously. That had a drill, sander, jigsaw, vacuum, light and trim saw included with the kit, but where the drill would run for a couple of hours on a charge, the sander, jigsaw, and trim saw were only good for maybe 10-15 minutes of use before it was time for a fresh battery. I'm sure that the Makita tools would be similarly power-hungry, so I haven't bothered with them because I'd rather just run the extension cord to my current corded units and use them indefinitely without running out of juice. :notsure:

Surprised they've still got snow at Tuck's; the 'Loaf and Sunday River were both pretty bare when I went through last weekend.

I had similar battery issues with a sawzall. Thing would run out of juice within 10 minutes. Could've finished the job in 10 minutes with an electric unit, but it took 45 needing to constantly charge batteries

I had the Makita cordless drill and impact. They lasted 2 years and shit the bed a couple months ago. I picked up a dewalt cordless drill and I’m liking so far.
Everything else is corded . Sawzall , angle grinders, my big dewalt impact gun etc etc .

I have a 3/8" DeWalt 20V impact, and a 20V drill. They've worked great, batteries last forever, and I've kinda used and abused them without any issues at all!

I used Makita LXT impacts when I was working in the field framing light gauge, but recently the last of my batteries gave up the ghost. The batteries are so expensive that you might as well buy a whole new setup when they inevitably fail (they all do at some point). I went with a Milwaukee M18 Fuel impact and drill combo because they had a deal for a free 9ah battery with the set if I bought it. So I have two 5ah batteries and the free 9ah battery. Makita didn't have that good a deal at the time I bought, so I'm trying the Milwaukee, but I loved my Makita LXT gear for many, many years. One thing I will say is the power is much more than my LXT set was. So much that you have to be careful with the impact because it will snap bolts. Lucky it has a power level setting that my LXT impactor didn't have. I'm real happy so far but again, the Makita was awesome for like 12 or 13 years.

Around the house, I just use Ryobi stuff. It's relatively inexpensive and has actually lasted me quite a while. I've had my drills for going on 10 years now. The batteries have all lasted over 5 years before needing to be replaced so I'm happy.

On jobsites, I see a lot of Milwaukee fuel and Makita branded tools. If I relied on my tools to make my living, I'd likely have the same.

Me neither... I'd likely end up getting fired for exploding on someone if I waited that long for my coffee (usually because my boss is the first person I see in the mornings so he'd likely be the recipient of the unpleasantness...)

Truck did alright. Just over a ton of steel in the bed and on the rack. I’m going to upgrade to a beefier rear axle. And bigger brakes. And box the frame.

I have all dewalt stuff. I have an impact gun, drills, angle grinder, circular saw and a sawzall that are cordless and take the 18v or 20v batteries. I mostly use the drills, saw and impact gun. Everything but the impact is like 5-6 years old and gone through a couple of moves. I have never had an issue with them, always worked how they were supposed to. My B/SIL just bought a new home and my wife and I got them a combo-kit for Christmas with the huge deals going knowing they had a lot of work to do on the fixer upper they bought. He is a journeyman electrician and when I had someone ask him which of the "big 3" he liked best and he said he liked Milwaukee stuff and that's what his boss uses, which probably played a big role in him choosing it. My father has a makita combo kit that I will use sometimes and those have always worked great and I think one of my brothers has all makita stuff too. I really think you can't go wrong choosing any of those brands, they should all work well and last a while. Even ryobi wouldn't be bad like someone mentioned, I have a few of their things and have never had an issue with them.

Sorry I didn't help narrow it down, but I really think the big 3 brands are similar its really more of a color/brand preference. I started with dewalt so I have stuck with it so far. Ryobi is legit too so if you want to save some cash and upgrade down the road they are a good option. Can always add a HD extended warranty on them for like 15 bucks.
Looks good! Obviously can't comment on the drive, but it looks like it can handle that weight without much sag at all.

Got a quote for a new cap for the truck and was quickly reminded why I bought the last 2 used.... holy hell they’re expensive!

Afternoon all! New job was good. Of course, I didn't do anything yet.

I recently bought a Stihl weedwacker FSA90 and a pole hedge trimmer, along with a 300Ah battery. I used the weedwacker twice on my yard (1/3acre) and used only 20% of the battery. Both work very, very good. Just like a gas unit.

The new job is good. Of course, I'm still in orientation.

I have a 20v Dewalt impact driver that works great and I don’t even remember the last time I charged it.

But on the other hand I have a personal Milwaukee 18v Fuel impact that I use at work and we have several Milwaukee tools like grinders and bandsaws and they’re all 18v. Never had an issue and I have used our grinders all day on the same battery
