IMO I'd do hard mount. Sure you can't adjust the angle but you can compensate for that with the better controller that'll harness more energy out of the same panel.

You'll make up the difference in it always collecting sun vs all the stuff you'll miss when you haven't set it up yet... Or when you set it up and the shadow of the camper covers it later in the day. And you'll have to store the portable one somewhere.

Get some 3in masking tap, cover the hole with the tape between the channels. mark it on the tape. Than leaving the tape in place put your trim back on. Mark where the tape is on your trim. remove trim and tape. place tape between the markings you just made. use a leather hole punch I know @CharlieCafe has one.

    there you go Edited slightly!

how I did it came out good.

Edit and what's special about their kit? My 100w setup was under $200 with everything included.

The green mountain area just got rocked with rain/hail. I can see a Corolla on Union that appears to have hydrolocked his engine trying to drive through the high water. Our parking lot sits a couple feet below Union and water was shooting out of our storm drain like a geyser, unreal.

haha, there is a video on youtube that demonstrates what he is talking about. I can't find it though. Something like this... remove the moulding, remove factory tape over holes, place masking tape on the roof on both sides of the channel adjacent to the holes, transpose the centerline of the holes onto the masking tape, place the moulding back into the channel and transpose those marks onto the moulding.

Diesel weighs 800lbs more than the gasser. Story is that engineer types thought that was too much front end weight to put on a dedicated offroad vehicle. So they went the gas route to balance better. Happy side effect was the removal of the intercooler left a big open space where they could tuck a winch. I don't believe the winch was part of the initial conversation, but once they made that decision all the pieces fit together. Cost may have also been a factor, PowerWagon Laramie is already a $60K+ truck, add a diesel to that and you're looking at $70K easy. Wagon returned in 2012 when trucks were popular but the 60-80K price tags you commonly see today weren't that obnoxious yet. I'm running Michelins now cause @teamhypoxia is my idol and my gas mileage has increased to 12mpg.

Those AEV Rams are pretty freaking sweet, but they also go for around $90K before rebates.

I think i have to do this.

    FB_IMG_15263246486674324.jpg

I'll try to save a little more of the body panels though.

And no to the exhaust stacks.

Made in america(which doesn't mean much these days) higher end panels, controller that is completely waterproof. Their 160w version is $750. 200w is $900ish. Basically paying for a good kit that is great quality. Reading reviews I think I will start out with portable and then add perminant ones down the road. Reading it's a good thing to have both perminant and portable. Solar controllers are the same thing between the portable and perminant.
