true but I pay more than that just for liability. And I'm 55. Not a perfect driving record but it's been quite a while now for a ticket (4 yrs, I think)

Geico just quoted me $267 a month with a $500 deductible for my 2018 OR and 2016 Traverse. I pay $248 right now with $2000 deductible. So prob worth the extra $20.

I wouldn’t say luckily, that’s the purpose of insurance.

FWIW, I haven’t been in an accident in a long time, but went from a $500 deductible to a $0 deductible and it cost me $3 a month. I see no point in a super high deductible, and then still using insurance to fix things. Just fucking yourself, kinda.

Have a high deductible and keep your savings aside for repairs less than $2k and pay out of pocket for them, or spend an extra $100 a year and get a low deductible plan. :notsure:

That’s what I’ll do but need a quote first. If they come back and say $2000 then I’ll pay it. The only other reason to use the insurance would be to get them to trace the other driver.

If someone hit me hard enough to cause that much damage, I'd call the cops saying a guy in a truck tried to kill us, and follow him until they showed up.

250 here. Mine dropped from 1k. Lived in Miami and now Alaska is way cheaper for better coverage. Saving 70$ a month

Called the cops on a crazed super 10 driver that lost it after getting a flat on a rear tire - he kept going and the flopping tire smashed off a fender and was smoking real bad, he was swerving too but kept going down the freeway like it was nothing. Stolen I bet! I just steered clear and stayed back until dispatch led a officer to him via my directions.

Didn’t mean you in particular, just used your numbers (and mine) as a reference. In my case, that $3/month penalty can be paid for over 13 years before I hit a single $500 deductible claim. Hopefully in that time frame I won’t have an accident.

All that said, my truck got totaled last February and all it cost me was a couple hours of time, and SF paid me just shy of $30k. So, it worked out well for me. I kept every penny, and didn’t lose any of it to pay the deductible off for the claim.

I'm wondering what the coverages are on some of you policies that have such low payments. I pay 150 a month for my taco and that's with a multi car, multi policy, and good driver discount. I have a 500 deductible and 50,000 per person medical and 100,000 per incident property. May not be the case for some but a low payment doesn't do you much good if you tee bone a jaguar and your ins only pays out 30000.

In Texas a hit and run is covered under part of a special policy that is required by the state. 200 deductible and can claim loss of use and value.

190 a month with Allstate 500 deducible for full coverage on my taco and wife’s 4Runner. I for sure don’t have a clean driving record.

    Ha!

I got rear-ended once in a hit and run and the cops basically told me there wasn't much they could do and to just go through my insurance process.
I would have been more likely to believe them if the car that rear ended me hadn't left it's front plate in the rear bumper cover of my car...
No one is thrilled with getting to do a bunch of paperwork without an adrenaline release...

    Very good point.

I carry half a million in liability and I’m pretty sure that’d burn quickly in a serious accident. Hospital bills... Million would be better.

For reference: I still pay less than OP but I have a $500 deductible

That reminds me. Tell them you want depreciation compensation from the accident. You’ll only get if you request it. Hopefully you don’t have to go through your insurance, but still request it from either insurance yours or theirs before it’s over.

Now I recognize that truck. Isn't it the one that "Rusty Nail" drives? You know the homicidal maniac/serial killer truck driver. Might want to steer clear of this guy OP.
