Hot and humid here. Record high temps several days recently. Early for highs in the 90s.

Yesterday we set a new record high for the date of 95 and today another record high of 97.

I jog a couple times a week and trying to get back in the habit of riding a mountain bike inbetween. I mostly do this to get in shape for backpacking trips, either just for one night or week long trips. It is harder to backpack, first day isnt bad, but the next few days are tougher. I did have my longest mileage day about five years ago, backpacked around 18 miles or more in one day. Sorry to hear some of you are having issues.

I just figure that anyone that makes it this far is gonna have some health problems.Just a new path to take @hikerduane.l look at a lot of folks in our age bracket that are not doing anything to keep their health and fitness up.Quality of life! Keep hiking!
I can't mountain bike anymore (or shouldn't),but ride a number of rail trails. We have a bunch of good ones in our area.Virginia Creeper Trail, also the New River trail which l haven't got to ride yet.

I biked most of the Bizz Johnson Trail here in N California last Fall with some friends, stayed at Goumaz CG. It is a Rails to Trails trail.

    Morning all:
Was just reading about warding off leg cramps on another forum, couple guys mentioned drinking Gatorade. Well, the one guy tried it and said it worked, he said he slept like a baby all night and didn't get any cramps, only problem was that he wet the bed!
I suggested he drink the Gatorade and also buy depends, problem solved!

I suggested some Gookinaid (now Vitalyte) to a lady I worked with for her son to take as he was a world class wheelchair athlete. He stopped having issues getting sick and being dehydrated. He went on to medal at the Atlanta Olympics for handicapped athletes. Those guys are brutal in races, blocking competition to allow a team mate to pull ahead.

    morning all:
This weather is getting OLD fast! One of the fatalities caused by the last storm happened near a small town near me, a tree fell on the guys car as he was driving killing him.
Again, not a branch in the back yard after cutting down the dead oaks :woot:, can't say the same for the front yard :(! Not that bad though, seen worse.

Hi, I am not retired (have no money) but I do have time to say "Hi" as I wait for the phone to ring from potential customers.

I do say "HI Sue " quite a bit!
The reason most of us don't have 2 seconds to say HI to you poor working stiffs is because we're too busy being retired o_O, you'll learn when you get there!!!!

:pccoffee:  Not retired, at least not completely. I've been on 4-day weeks for a couple of years. I also have made it very clear that I won't be piling extra hours on just to meet someone's arbitrarily selected deadline. I'm salaried so this is a big one for me. For most of my career I pretty much just worked as many hours as it took to get the work done. This frequently resulted in me getting even more work! :annoyed: Now that I'm intentionally taking less pay, that stuff is done and gone. (Boss is still adjusting, but that's his problem.)

I just turned 65, so that threshold is behind me. Currently aiming to retire at 66, unless one of two things happens first:
    • Something happens to really p*ss me off at work
    • Some cool opportunity comes along that will take more free time than I currently have
    • I just change my mind

Two more years for me until I retire. We have been crushingly busy at the College this semester. Started some new programs - one provides high-performing high school students the ability to graduate with an associates degree at the same time they graduate high school. Thought we'd pilot with 4 schools, now have 15+ that want in including several from way outside our normal coverage area. Commencement tomorrow. Lots of work around our property and I hope it warms up enough to finally get in the pool before too long.

    And...Hi, Sue!!!
