Bout time we got back to the topic at hand. I pay $5 for my deductible, blah blah blah. One time someone hit me blah blah blah. OP wants solutions to find the driver that hit him, not another worthless insurance thread.

 

How about posting your pictures on a few sections of Craigslist asking for information about this hit/run driver, in the area you think this truck might be from?

damn, I currently pay $407 every 6 months with geico and a $2500 deductible (college student, every dime counts) and I have a poverty trim regular cab. granted I am 22, but I am also married and have a clean driving record.

 

Yeah, that's an active investigation or detainment, at the least. I'm pretty sure they can't just run plates at random. Something something 4th Amendment.

I don't believe there is an expectation of privacy with publicly displayed licence plates.

Ya I'm in Ontario some of the highest rates in Canada

 

Those plates on your vehicle are also property of the state. They hand them out for a nominal fee in exchange for the privelage of displaying them on your vehicle. Ever wonder how pay by mail(plate) tolls work. Big brother is watching.

 

Lots of departments have automatic plate readers in their patrol cars now that are constantly scanning and running plate numbers, keyword being constantly.

I have a friend that is a police dispatcher and gets calls to run plates all the time. She txted me saying my shitty ford truck got the numbers ran. That thing looks like a boat anchor. They can run plates at will. 4th amendment protects you against unreasonable searches and seizures among other things. A cop can sit in his car and call in plates all day. Maybe learn or read up on what the 4th Amendment is before spouting BS.
