I had a buddy who got an HOA fine for backyard care. Mind you his back yard was fenced but the block captain was his backyard neighbor. Well he got around that one by discouraging anyone from inspecting the back yard over the fence. Started having his morning coffee on the back porch with just some tighty whities haha

That’s hilarious. Luckily all my neighbors all equally hate the HOA here.

They only started getting really anal about everything about a year ago. We bought this house from the builder in ‘05 and the property management company changed hands last year. Now it feels like we live in a police state, seriously.

They get you for the absolute prettiest things like leaving your garbage can over night.

That reminds me. The neighbor I mentioned earlier fixing his Sienna found some cars who obviously didn’t belong on our street. He said “Can I help you?” and one of the guys said “Why don’t you F off.” Neighbor leaves, casually walked back into his house and brought back his shotgun. He walked straight to his car, pumped it, and said “What did you just say to me, asshole?”

Never seen someone leave so quickly. I was watching it unfold on my CCTV system. My neighbor is like in his late 70’s too so it was just hilarious. I got the story out of him when I was taking his intake manifold off.

I was in Eastern Washington at the time. Although golf courses are abundant here too, but seeing an abandoned one is eerie and there are quite a few of those too.

The golf courses here are built on old landfills.

No abandoned golf courses around here, but there are tons of old drive in movie theatres. Thing is the properties are used for other things like swap meets and shopping centers.

If you ever drive on I-880 through Oakland towards San Francisco you’ll pass by an open air market, but they didn’t bother demolishing the screens so you can still see them standing.

Actually been there, used to go to the flea market in Santa Cruz every weekend with my parents when we lived there too. Even saw some movies at the huge drive in there.

No kidding you used to live out here?

I love Santa Cruz. But I hate that drive on highway 17 through the Santa Cruz mountains. Last time I was up there I drove there in the early morning during the Northern California wildfires. Winds were pushing South so not only was I driving through that maze of a highway, I had almost no visibility from all the haze.

There is actually some amazing courses in AZ, but i dont understand how people play them all year. Talked to a guy out there n he gets up at 5 am to golf at 5:30...but he says once summer hits that is even not doable.

I can’t even begin to imagine the water bill.

I’m guessing it’s mainly well water out there?

It is just as bad as vegas or palm springs. They spend a rediculous amount on water, i couldnt imagine it either

Fun Fact: the fountains at Bellagio are fed by an existing well and pump house from a property that existed on the land before the hotel was built. The well used to supply water for a golf course, which actually used more water, on average, than what the fountains and reservoir use today.

Yup, lived there for a while, visited San Fran a lot too. I-17 isn't so bad, kinda dangerous in the rain what with the whole no drainage thing, but it is awesome on a motorcycle or a low car. Some interesting stuff in the mtns if you can find the right roads. I lived in Aptos, place literally still looks the same as when I was there, well over 13 years ago, really odd.

Yeah natives will keep playing up until 105 or so, the call center manager at my work gets up at 5 to play ever Saturday so he's done around lunch time.

If by well water you mean the Colorado river then yes. Wells shafts here just lead to more dirt and clay.

The Colorado river dries up and no longer makes it to the gulf of mexico because of lack of water. It's because of all the water being diverted to keep the golf courses in Phoenix green.
