Anybody know of a good welding shop in the Fredericksburg area that is easy to work with and could make a couple of custom brackets for me?

Any idea exactly what you are trying to achieve? I know Iron pig is a shop that welcomes guys who have unique jobs they want done.

I'm familiar with Iron Pig. They put the lift on my Tundra years ago.

What I'm looking to do is take a CB Radio Antenna mount like this one and make it into a flagpole mount. I envision taking a piece of like 1-1/8 tubing about 6-inches long, welding a washer on one end to cap it, then bolting it to the CB bracket.

I have a topper on my truck so the rail-mounted flagpole mounts won't work for me.

Im sure some folks might be interested in helping you tool up one of these. I know @Casper66 I believe did the one in the photo? I would think as long as someone can heat up metal enough to articulate it for a good fit, then you should be able to create something for a cheap price.

I stole that picture from ShmellFab; not @Casper. And I would want two of them; one for the left and one for the right.

I’m in Italy for the week. I flew out Sunday morning, and I don't sleep on planes because I can't get comfortable enough, then arrived this morning, tired as crap and I'm going to try and make it to dinner then take a shower and go to bed. Caio!

I’ve had a pretty productive time for mods. Yesterday I finally got time to put on my smoked headlights. I also learned that sometimes it’s better to NOT take things apart, as you then see the mess others made when “fixing” things. I was able to get the front plastic wheel-well pieces trimmed off so my tires won’t rub at full lock in Reverse. I also got to take off the stock exhaust and replace with the Magnaflow exhaust I picked up from a guy in Richmond. I will post up some pictures once I get the truck washed. It’s so filthy with pollen right now.

Got my sliders on finally! They were custom made many years ago for the Tundra and now they have custom plates added to make them bolt on to the Tacoma. Not bad. They'll do for what I need

    Not Enough.
So... yet again, another "I'm still alive" update. Life has gotten crazy. This is my last week at Big Tex Trailers. Three years and a lot of memories, and it's time to move on...

So, after 6 weeks of training (and a lot of travel), I'll be taking over the reigns as the new store manager of 4 Wheel Parts in Richmond. Once I get settled in, I'll probably be looking at moving somewhere south of Richmond.

Also, once I get a handle on how they do everything (give me some time to get settled in), I'll look at holding some meets and promotions for Tacoma World if they'll let me. But, for the next few months, I'll probably be hard to catch up with. I still hop on TW from time to time to check in with everyone though, so I'll be around.

Hope all you guys are doing well.

    P.S.
@Choco_Taco - Saw your post on Facebook. Those smoked headlights look sweet! Just be careful... they might get you a ticket.

I'm trying my best to take it as easy as I can. Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to all the travel as a break. Won't be home, so nothing to do after but relax. First two weeks I'll be in VA Beach, so I'm bringing my fishing poles.

Congrats on the new job. Once you get settled in at the new job, you should try to make it out to a meet or two with the RVA FB group, since you'll be in Richmond already.

Congrats on the new job. Hopefully you can hook us all up with deals! I know I wasn't the only one thinking that.

Before you move, I still need to get those 5100 from you (and your help installing them-never done those before).

Thanks for the input on the headlights. Sadly, I took them off last night and went back to the stock ones that are faded. Oddly, they still put out more light than the smoked ones.

I used this when I was helping @TacoFMS with his headlights. So far they are looking clear.

Oh believe me, I've got some ideas up my sleeve for some deals. But I gotta get in there and see what kind of authority I end up with. It's a big company, and until I prove myself and they prove to me otherwise, I'm just a number. Hopefully an important number, but still a number.

And I'm not going anywhere that soon. Got a little debt to finish up first, goal is by the end of the year. Then probably start looking next year. So other than the craziness traveling for the next 6 weeks, I'm not going anywhere. Plenty of time.

Good looking out! Spending $15, plus some man-hours would be cheaper than replacing. I will give this a try in the coming weekends.

Honestly it took me like 30-40 min tops for both lights. They provide 3 grades of sand paper with it being 600, 1000, and 2000 I think. The process is a 3 step where you clean up with the 600 and a spray solution. Go back over that with 1000 to make it clean it up smooth, then buff in use 2000. Clear the lens of any debris and then wipe on this "1 swipe" at a time clear coat applicator and then it sets in like ten minutes.
