Armored out truck. Built around to carry camping gears.
interesting post but I also have the same issue including my windows from driver side to passenger not rolling down correctly and dome/map lights not shutting off all at once. These problem occurs when I pressure wash or when it rains. my tacoma is bone stock and no modifications. Still in the shop since 8/8/18 with no good news yet

Old thread...but. Are the guys who blew out there controls changing there bulbs out with metal pliers? I have swapped out to leds in over a half dozen different vehicles between mine, wife's and kids. I've put them in backwards turned the light on and nothing, turn light off flip bulb around and turn light back on. Never blew a fuse. Same with my Meso Ultimate Map Lights, put one in backwards (no light) turned it around with no ill affects.

I think I installed mine without any tools. The driver side map is not working at all. the passenger side flickers like a strobe. I am waiting for Mesos red Maplights to become available. hopefully they will work.

I didnt use any tools either but somehow manage to fry it up to the point neither map light worked. I had it fixed by the dealer. But now that i want to add messos overhead switch holder. (Dont know the exact nane of the product) i am wondering if pulling the overhead would result in me voiding my warranty

Installed backwards an led simply wont light. You might have had the festoon contacts cocked which would cause the short.

The contacts on festoons are bent wires that can easily get crossed so it doesn't take mistreatment to cause a problem. Lack of knowledge, attention, or awareness can always cause problems even if you think you're being careful.

Unfortunately, I found this thread a few days too late... is there any other fix? Any small part in the ecu itself that can be replaced? My truck is out of warranty and i would rather not spend $650 to get my ecu replaced.

I think power is passed through a relay so either the relay is fused and stuck in the "on" position or the control module is cooked. The control might be the cpu. I'd first check the engine bay relay box to see if there's an accessory or lighting delay relay and replace that.

It’s kinda like the refrigerator and the light bulb dilemma.

I know this is a bit of an old thread but I just had this issue. I have had LEDs for about a year and I also added underbody courtesy lights. Just yesterday I hit a pothole in the rain and all the interior lights came on and stayed on. My underbody courtesy lights worked fine and faded with the timer but the interior stayed on. I read this thread and feared the worst.

The problem I found was a bad festoon LED. Swapped it out and problem solved... I have no idea how the internal circuit of an LED could cause this.

Sorry I'm late to the party and I haven't read every post, but I've skipped thru the thread and here is my suggestion.

In each door there is a pressure switch, if the drivers door switch is failing the dome light won't work automatically, the headlights also won't turn off when you open the door.

The first step is to just wiggle the switch back and forth, up and down, then poke the switch a bunch of times and see if you can free it up. If that works the switch may work again for a while, order a new one and put it in (one screw to remove) just make sure you don't drop the wire connector into the door jamb (I always tie a string on it before disconnecting the wires from the switch - just in case).

If the steps above don't solve your problem, then remove the switch from a different door and install it in the drivers door (don't install the old switch until you have tested the newly installed drivers door switch)

    Hope this helps

So my 2017 access cab starting doing this - dome light (and map lights) staying on. I can still turn everything off with the switch. The strange thing is it only happens after a rain. Once everything is dry, the lights work normal. My first guess, a short coming from the third brake light or the shark fin.

Glad I’m not the only one....I have the same problem map and dome lights will stay on but only when it rains and yes I can turn them off with the switch never ever blew any fuses ever. The problem goes away when the truck dries off usually a few hours everything back to normal. I have @MESO map and dome leds and the problem started shortly after I installed them but I don’t think those are causing the issue. I think the problem is with the door pins getting wet and the dome being negative trigger maybe? I think and the water makes a ground connection and keeps the lights on haven’t had the time to investigate it further though.

Please let me know what you find out. I think you are right - water is making some sort of ground connection. I will also look at the door switches.

Check the carpet padding on the driver side to see if it's wet. There are a bunch of electrical connections behind the drivers side kick panel and the carpet padding can wick the moisture up to the plugs.

Carpet is dry. Water is getting to some electrical connection.
