 While that's funny it does suck. I have to crate my pup because he has separation anxiety and gets destructive and or eats everything he shouldn't when he it's left alone.

Pups can do that! I crate trained my dogs for almost two years and now they are 5 and they do just fine!! As long as Mom doesn’t leave her dirty panties out they still have a croch!

Yeah I'll try letting him out of the crate some when I see more changein his attitude. He's right around 1yr now so I figure it's going to be a while longer. He's starting to show improvement already though.

When you do start out, make sure he's really tired. Wear him out like you never have. If you don't, you'll come home to something destroyed. Mine is a year and a half. I trust him for about 5 hours on his own, then he gets antsy. My brother with the same dog breed was fine an entire day at 8 months. They're all different.

:rofl:I'm not even sure that's possible but I get what your saying. I've done well with his crate training and he is very comfortable in it. Most of the time he gets in it before I tell him he needs to. He'll earn more freedom one day, I'm confident about that. Even then I'll probably limit it to 2-3 hours on his own. I travel with him a lot and I don't think I'll be comfortable leaving him free in a strange place he isn't used too.

When Mowgli was young (about year old) he did the same thing. Friday night I went out and had one too many and didn't wake up early enough to take him out for his daily morning walk...when I woke up he tore the whole sofa apart! lol

I had just finished reading the news story above and my son sent a photo of his Corgi.

"I was supposed to have some repairs done to my apartment today but they weren't done. The maintenance crew left this note."

When I was home I let them out of the crate and when I left the house they were always in it. I cover it with a towel or blanket at night too. Dogs will eventually see it as their special place and will go in it themselves to lay down.

I agree exercising your pooch is super super important and it will help prevent them chewing up everything!!
