I think it was 4x4 but no Locker so I think so Atrac, please he went the opposite way..and it was deep. Also tires were not Muds....the black FJ had KM2s

Not driver error two could not make it but the one with muds was able to back out.

They both throttled...it was going the opposite way so the bank at the end you would have to clear....with all the FJ going through there at the time it made matter worse. You likely would have high centered or would have had major damage.

I know this spot well, climbing out of TDS, you notice this FJ is at an angle, when dry (or drier) the right approach would've been to straddle the rut to the far right placing drivers side wheels where the passenger side wheels are in this pic. note: (not being there to see it that rut may have been too wide in one spot to do so)& Tri is right, this spot is a slide zone for 2 wheelers & prerunners....

I stand by what I said. They may have throttled, but it was after the fact & I don't care which way you entered it, it was entered too slowly & with too much intrepidation ( fuck ,thats a $5 word). Example, everytime I go thru this section I start at the edge at about 15 mph (no biggie, its mud) At first sign of slogging I punch it allowing my truck to upshift into 3rd (remember I'm locked in 4lo) & 3rd gear lo range & this fucker just rises to the top like cream on milk & I'll let my steering float a little & I'll either come up the existing ruts or sometimes cut a new line across them...

He took the wrong line...I was the lead truck and went through it...it was his second time out on the trail. First time was the desert.

I have no doubts you would have made it...but you would have body damage cause of the approach angle. Let's go this weekend and you can prove me wrong. I might be headed out there with 4x4 only...sorry prerunners.

Yes sir! just hung up with Connie I believe. She asked how you're doing. I'm talking my truck in Monday @ 8am.

*I might be trading my truck in for a DC automatic so my wife can drive it and more room for the baby*

You made a good choice Bro', Dave definantly doesn't need me to drum up buisness for him, great mechanic with alot of offroad vehicle experience. & I think you'd be waaay happier & $$$ ahead by trading your truck in for what your talking about, fact is Automatic trans. are alot easier on drive train dude. & I think your offroad experience will improve also........:D

    I'll call'em later & say "HI"

I dunno dude, but from the way your truck sounded just sitting there in neutral & the howling issues you describe at the very least sounds like a throw out bearing/ clutch & center bearing R&R you never did answer if it (the clutch) was slipping & if so how much ??.......:eek:

Whatever the out come it'll be alot cheaper than the dealer, that I know, hell they might even give ya a military discount if ya tell them yer in

The clutch wasn't slipping. So I don't think it's that...we wi just have to see. I think the active DoD sticker will prove I'm active military.

God I miss San Diego!!! I used to ride through there all the time, almost every weekend. Don't ever take for granted that which you can loose in the blink of an eye.
