    hey all, im new to the forum and just got my 98 tacoma a few months ago and im ready to start modding it. Where should i look to get a decent brush guard ir bull bar for the best price?

    They’re really just for show, they cause more damage than they’re worth. They’re universally known around here as damage multipliers, because in a front end crash the guard ends up damaging both fenders and the grille.

    That being said I own one. I bought it as a gamble off Craigslist for $100 fully expecting to weld custom mounts for it. It ended up bolting just fine.

    You can buy a new one for about $400-500 from someone like Westin. I have a brand new Relentless Fabrication plated winch bumper I will be putting on, just haven’t had the time. Full winch bumpers will be a lot better than any grille guard. Look into Baja tube bumpers for budget options. Cheapest plated bumper is the ARB one at $800.

    like he said, grill guards are just for looks and have no real function if you plan to off road, your better off saving your money and getting an actual off road bumper. But if you do plan of just DDing the car and never see dirt then sure get a grill guard.

    The arb bumpers dont always look great in pictures but they look really good in person. I’ll be saving money and going that route when the time comes.
