Those running 33's whats your mpg?

I recently threw on my 285s and I'm averaging around 15 MPG but I know one of my tires aren't balances so maybe that might help.

anyone have any tips for increased fuel economy?

 

If it really concerns you, get your speedometer re-calibrated so you're reading out accurate speed and accurate MPGs. I have 285s. Pre lift & big tires I was averaging 18-20. Now I'm guessing I'm 16-18. Gas is cheap. You should have more important things to worry about than 1-2 MPGs.

This is true - actually going a bit further on taller tires so add on a few % to your trip readout.

 

Get your speedo corrected or account for the larger tires when calculating mpg.

How do you correct it? I know there’s something some company sells but it’s like north $2-300. That would suck for a one time thing.

 

I'm getting 16-18 as well.

Asking for tips for better exonomy isn't a bad thing. We didn't buy economy cars but why not do the best with what we have?

I feel like your question should be more about the 285s and not the 33s.

A lot of people also report of going to 255 33s and not seeing much effect on mpgs are all

 

Without getting a speedo correction I dont know what my exact mileage is. But its probably a little worse then stock. No one gets bigger tires for MPGs... LOL

 

How many gallons per mile though

 

I run 255/85/r16 and get 18-23 highway

 

I've gotten 12.4-12.9L/100 which is roughly 18mpg.

Depends on the conditions though. Certain highways around here that are mostly rolling hills kill my mpg.

Best I've seen so far was 11.8l/100km and that was all country roads in cottage country.

I've found going faster than 105km (65ish?mph) will drop it to more around 14l/100

Although it's not great it's actually much better than I expected to get.

The computer will always show worse but if you calculate it when filling up with your distance traveled (shown on odometer x difference in tire size) then your fuel to fill.

My dash says I'm getting around 14-16l/100km but math shows differently.

A 33" is about 6% difference than stock size on the odometer etc

I've found that my fuel economy falls off a cliff once you start getting past 65mph as well.

 

If you can keep it in 6th (under 2000 rpms) then you'll get decent MPGs, but as soon as you get past that 2000 rpm wall the truck will automatically downshift to 5th and you can kiss your mileage goodbye.

 

Mine's a manual so it'll stay in 6th whether it likes it or not! But 65mph is definitely the magic number for mileage. 60 is even better.

 

Im jealous. I would have saved a ton of mpgs on my trip last weekend and had a much smoother ride if I could have just kept it in 6th gear with a little extra throttle.
