real test results

OK......it's been a while since I have been able to post to this site. I have been living in the wild in northern Texas for 3 months now and working at a refinery 60 miles from where I have been camping. 2nd day on the job back in June my front left wheel came off the truck while I was in route to work. I had my tires rotated in Amarillo and the thugs did not tighten the lug nuts. Had no warning it was about to happen. $2,600.00 in body damage, but no mechanical damage other than the brake rotor, which was destroyed.

If you live near here, forget the supercharger! No premium gas and the bitch was pinging like crazy. I had to buy a 200 gallon tank and trailer and ordered 94 octane from a race track in Amarillo. The altitude here also has ill effects on the truck.

At any rate, it handles quite well in the rocky terrain and sometimes red, sticky mud.

Mileage? well...........about 14 or so.

Deer hunters............you need to try this place, but don't bring your tree stand. There are no trees here.......just lots of deer.

 

Couldn't you just buy regular gas and cary a case of octane booster?

 

What the hell else is he gonna do with all that cash he's makin?

 

I thought about that when I first got out here. I called TRD and spoke to the tech. He said that would be the worse thing to do. I tried tweaking the ignition, but did not have much luck. Here I am.........less than 100 yards from 93 octane in the refinery, but can't get any from them. I have to buy high test at the race track for $4.90/gal.

 

I have to say the rate plus per diem has made me a very happy person.

 

Plus the rent aint badLOL

 

What business in Amarillo? Some might want to avoid the place!!!!

 

JD tire. My insurance company and i tried to lay blame, but were not successful.

 

Seriously? They don't tighten your lug nuts properly, practically cause a life threatening accident and they take no responsibility? That is bull crap!

I agree. We tried to get it into small claims, but it was rejected. Strangely enough, there was no warning it was about to happen. It was 5:30 AM and pouring rain. When daylight broke, I was able to find the wheel because it rolled quite some distance. I found 5 of the 6 lug nuts within a 12 foot radius. I never found the sixth.

That event has been overshadowed by other things that have happened here. I will get a few pics up in my profile.

 

Best of luck with your fight, this type of crap boils my blood, what if you had your family with you??? There are so many variables that could have happened, people need to take more responsibility! Arghhh!!!

Having to react to a loss of a wheel is bad enoough, but imagine how many could have died if that loose tire hit another vehicle... chain reaction of blood and smoke everywhere. The local walmart has done it 2 times since Ive been in Kansas. They have repaired damages

The tire thing sucks. I just had some put on at Costco a couple of weeks ago, and I was impressed. They hand torqued each of the lug nuts to spec... sure it takes a few minutes to do, but I don't understand why more places don't do this. Why was it rejected at small claims court? Did they make you sign a waiver or something?

 

No waiver. Just not enough evidence to prove they were at fault. So the Admin at small claims says. They said it would be hard to prove that I did not remove and replace that one tire myself because of a possible flat.
