So looking to add a kayak rack to the bed of my 2014 but running in to issues. I am currently using the Thule roof setup but am sick and tired of getting in and out of the bed. Also when I am on a long trip it is a pain to move all my gear around to get to the yak. Also the roof is super thin and already getting some damage from the loading and unloading.

My plan is to install a bed rack but I have some demands...

    1. It does not clamp on but rather uses the existing bed rail system.
    2. It does not interfere with my existing Access tonneau roll up which is also bolted behind the bed rail.
    3. It is tall enough for the yak to hang out above the cab (obviously)
    4. Won't break the bank of a public school teacher.

Possibly looking for something with an L bracket that sits on top of the sides of the bed and fits in between the rail system and the tonneau.

    Thanks for your upcoming advice!

Thanks for the tips so far. The kbvoodoo site looks interesting but at $750 is way out of my range. Even just buying the four brackets that would fit between the bed rail and the truck bed would run me $200 if I were to build off of them. I am a little more intrigued by the oak orchard site but was wondering if anyone knew why all of the racks ended up being half on the bed and half on the roof. I know more length equals more stability but I really don't want anything attached to my roof as it will just create more damage eventually.

Anyone know of another place I can visit that will put all four points of contact in the bed?

I use J racks on the roof and just step on my Nerf bars to get them on and off. Maybe you could just get Nerf bars or a stool?

Had those before but I don't like the narrow contact points. Also they don't address the issue of keeping everything off the roof. I want my thule rack system gone from my roof. That is priority #1.

Looks good but don't think it would work with my tonneau. Clamps can be tossed and holes drilled but it looks like the right angle brackets won't extend down far enough into the bed to bolt behind my bed rails. Thanks though.

On the site it says there is a tonneau adapter that would work. My buddy has one and he likes it. Good luck on your search!

Thanks for the tip. Does he have a soft cover on his truck?
