I have a fake investment app called MarketSim that lets you invest $10k. I just sold everything I had and put it all into SMRT. Let’s see what happens, I wish I was willing to do this with real money.

If I turn this fake $10k into a fake $100k I’m gonna be real pissed!

Investment vehicle/strategy and portfolio balance for a 2-3 year time horizon to park ~15k in? Normally my risk profile would be to throw it at some small cap growth ETFs and let it ride. However given i need to use it in 2.5ish years losing 10-15% on a market downturn would be crushing. We have record stock market levels, and US stocks have been on average higher than normal levels of growth, especially compared to intl markets, so im obviously fearful for a bear market. If you were entering the market now what would you experienced people be aiming to have your portfolio balances at? Reallocation to legacy funds? slight hedge with intl markets? Fuck it lets keep floatin on the gravy train?

nice simple approach. Where is the 8 month time frame based off of? Research? Personal preference?

I may be wrong, but I think he’s predicting a recession at that point.

it takes a while for the stock market to feel the effects of a yield curve inversion. If you pull out right when it inverts, you are going to miss out on a lot of gains (based on historical data)... hence the reason for suggesting pulling out later.

You can check out this data here:

SMRT is coming back.. wouldn't be surprised it if ended up a little at day's end. A lot of weak hands were cashing out. I expect it to get bouncy as folks hedge their bets on what the earnings report will be. If you're not risk tolerant, you may want to cash out before earnings if you can get away with a modest gain.
