Sure but why would the motor rev so freely compared to the Tacoma? Stomp on the throttle of a Highlander and the response is instant and quick while in neutral.

It wasn't an assumption. Its just how it translated to me when I read it. It's been clarified so im thinking we dont need to rehash it.

Definitely get that it's going to drive different and have a lot more drivetrain loss due to it's extra weight, gearing, tires (basically everything that makes it a truck) but none of that should really have any effect on the engine itself when it's in neutral and/or clutch disengaged. Maybe a little slower revving if it has a heavier flywheel than the cars but aside from that why wouldn't it be able to rev up just as quickly as those? I know this isn't such an issue with the automatics because they don't ever really need to rev it out of gear, and because of that i can see how you could drive an auto forever and not even realize it revs slow. It's a whole different story with a manual though, it's a huge pain in the ass not being able to rev match.

Edit: just realized someone else already said basically the same thing

Did any of those other vehicles have rev hang?
Are there any other Toyota products with this wonky throttle?

Is it possible that Toyota Dicknitions picked the Tacoma out of the fleet to be the test mule for this wonky throttle?(econo pedal from now on)

    Riiiiight.. Ontario sniff test.

I wonder, if you could get past the visual inspection, if a URD spec U with just the rear cat delete would still pass..

They are all autos so I can't say. The Highland and Sienna I tried had an instant reaction when goosing the throttle. Rpms headed up much quicker than the Tacoma and dropped instantly when off the pedal. Sure wish the Tacoma reacted that way. Step on the pedal and you get a "wait for it" feeling.

Just thinking, next time I'll post a video of a Highlander, Sienna or Camry and do one for my Tacoma so we can all see the difference.
