Which tire to choose?

went with hankook dynapro this morning...

 

how well is your wet traction with these? a lot of very curvy roads here in WV..we call those "kiss your ass curves" lol what about road noise?

 

I love the look of the ko2 but like you said they're mainly off road and I would hate to spend the $$$ on them and never use them to their full potential

Winterforce are good also, but not much of a highway tire.

 

Dyno pro ATM HANHOOK tires will last 100,000 miles and have a nice aggressive tread.

I used to run only Michelin LTX AT2 only but the Dynopro tires out performed them by far for traction and longevity.

Michelin at2 tires are great too but lack the traction tread design compared to the ATMS.

ATM tires have a VERY deep tread
I have 560,000 miles on my truck and my favorite is the ATM for tread life and traction

 

I picked up a set of new takeoff 17 TRD OR wheels with goodyear wrangler all terrain adventures. I've been happy with tires so far. As a bonus, you can usually pick them up pretty cheap with very little mileage on them. If limited to only the 2 choices, I'd go with the Falkens.

 

Don’t cheap out. Get the ko2s.

 

i use "other" tires. they are all-terrain type. affordable and multi season.

 

How many miles you getting on the tread? What kind of hit did you take on MPG if any?
I'm across the border in NB - looking for something that won't spin out on Ice as well as handle the snow.

I swap them out every three years. I average about 15K miles per year....so they usually have around 45K miles. I've always been able to sell them as they still have some usable tread left. I believe the LT versions have the 50K mile tread warranty.

I got rid of the stock tires a few months after buying my truck new back on 2011, so I don't have a reference point for mpg. The load range C version comes in around 40 lbs....not too bad.

I do rotate every 5000 miles too.

 

btw....anything non studded will be virtually useless on ice....as I'm sure you're aware.

 

Falken Wildpark in a skinny (235) loving these tires! Coming from a 245;on Steele’s to these on alloys I went from 20-21mpg around town to 20. (4banger)
And they looook seeeexy.., also pretty darn quiet so far

 

For a street driver - that has to wade in high water during the summer monsoon - I got Yokohama Geolander 255R70-18's. Went from the stocker 30.5 dia to 32.0. I had good life and road manners with the Yokies on my old Dodge half ton. Figured they would do the job on the little truck too.

 

I've run Toyo A/T's, Duratracs, KO2's, and now the Falkens from winters in Washington State to hurricane season in Puerto Rico. I'd pick the Falkens every time.

 

Another vote for Falken Wildpeaks. Almost 10k miles on mine with use on varying terrain and conditions. They've performed amazingly well thus far!

 

I'm not knocking your choice but I really don't understand the ko2's fan club. There are many, many better choices available for less money. Unless you are 50/50 off road/on road or more I would never get the ko2's.

OP wants a tire mainly for on road/daily driving. Lots of good choices already here but also maybe consider the michelin defender ltx or kuhmo crugen 51. Both are highway tires that also do very well in dirt and snow.

 

Id probably buy them if i could afford the cost and the extra weight but i cant afford either. If my BFG Rugged Terrains ever wear out, im going with the Falkens mentioned above. My Rugged Terrains have 37k and are still at 8/32nds on all 4. They are wearing very well.

 

I vote Cooper Discoverer AT3, had mine on about 7k miles. Great tires in wet and off road (no mud so far). Great in sand too, I've pulled out the following vehicles in deep sand at Fiesta island lol
