what rating offroad tires is eveyone running ?

Air press does make s difference !! , my old rock crawler jeep I had 33" TSL Boggers and was only running 24lbs press in ea tire for street pressure

On my street legal drag race car I'm running 18lbs tire pressure in my Drag Radials on the street

I run my E rated tires at 30.
Used to run my D rated at 50-60

 

I’m running c-rated 31x10.5 KO2s. For snow tires I have 235/85r16 Firestone Winterforces, e-rated. Honestly, the KO2s are heavier and ride just as hard. It’s sort of a double-edged sword. We have really rough roads here, and the heavier tires give me some peace of mind when it comes to punctures, both off road and on crater-ridden streets, but I can’t help but think they’re putting undue stress on the stock front end components. Next time I’m going to try a lighter c-rated tire.

 

I love my Toyo AT2 extremes but I think I am going Cooper St maxx on the Taco .

 

I probably spent 6 months researching tires before I bought my Cooper ATW's last summer to replace my cracked Michelin MS/2's which were around 6 years old. I bought P rated due to less weight and I don't tow or haul a lot of weight in the bed. My Michelins before were P-Rated and I drove them through plenty of sharp rock beds and never had a sidewall puncture. I don't do any heavy wheeling. So, since my truck is an RC 2.7 with OME 880's up front, Deaver J-59's in the rear with OME Nitrochargers in the rear I though that going C or E rated would make it ride like a buck-board wagon. It rides like a buck-board wagon even with P rated tires on it and after a year, no blow-outs. But I don't "wheel" it. I never could understand why I never had a sidewall puncture with the Michelin's since I did drive through some serious rock beds with them. I guess I was lucky but I also chose my line well. I don't do with these Cooper's what I did with the Michelin's so I really can't compare the two honestly.

I bought the P rated Cooper ATW's in a 245 instead of the stock 265 and I bought them because my truck is a daily driver and we normally have lot's of ice and snow here. I bought them because less un-sprung weight and less rotational weight is a good thing for a DD which my truck is. I don't "wheel it" hard because it's my only vehicle. The ATW's are advertised as being "better than normal" on the ice. We had a "very" mild winter here this last year so I really can't offer an honest opinion but with that said this last winter I couldn't tell a difference on the ice between the two. If next winter is "normal" I'll see if there is a difference between the two. Right now? After this last extremely mild winter it's not fair to judge.

I will say that the Michelin MS/2's are "the bomb" for normal, everyday driving in temperate climates where it is dry most of the time. The only place, in my experience, they really suck in is wet, muddy conditions but then, so do the Cooper ATW's. That being said, I did power at elevated speed through more than one foot deep mudholes with them. They also stuck tenaciously to dry, very steep climbs. I haven't done any of this yet with the Coopers.

In the future though, when it isn't my only vehicle I will look into KIngs/Icons etc. etc., and will probably go with the E rating as well as lighter wheels like Countersteers so when I do get into a gnarly patch of off-road I won't have to worry about a puncture.
