Rob, the rivet tool you show is straight, I think you might have clearance issues when doing the lower joints closer to the engine next to the fluid reservoir? It's also not going to be easy to lean in and get leverage while leaning in over the engine to keep the tool parallel and straight/concentric to the rivet pins, as opposed to a right angle rivet tool such as this one...

I definitely considered this when I bought it. That is, that it might be too big. I think it is not as big as it looks though. Remember, the brackets are attached and then the strut to the bracket. There will be room for the tool I hope. I honestly think what you bought will be perfect. I just tend to overdo things.

i went back and watched the video again. It looks like there might be plenty of room between the ball and the rivet locations. I hope I am right.

Actually I stand corrected, the orientation of your rivet tool, when putting the lower joints on means it will be vertical, this rivet tool is 17.5", do you have 17.5" when the hood is propped open? I haven't measured or thought about this, but for a right angle rivet tool, it won't be an issue...I'm worried yours might be...then length of your rivet tool because of it's design means you need 17.5" +2 or 3" more to slip right into the pin from the top, means you're looking at a needed clearance of 19.5" to 20.5 inch between where the hood is propped and the top of the rivet pin...

Worst case, the hood can still go hire up if needed, but someone tall or standing on a step stool might have to hand prop it while you do this...

You are bringing up great points and are making me think, that's for sure!

I think a broom handle strategically placed will prop the hood up to near vertical. Nothing holds the hood from flipping all the way over I believe. Maybe place a moving blanket on the windshield and open it all the way?! LOL And I will definitely need a step stool. I am not very tall. I used one just to do the headlight bulb replacements. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Correction to my grammer - *Higher, not hire. I did go to college...I just don't remember what I "learnded" lol!

Well then if the hood has no limitations, then you're good to go! One hand holding the hood and one hand riveting and you'll out do David Blaine. I'd pay to see that magic show!

Yea, I will try my old pair first. I think I am man enough. I just wanted to be prepared. I always overthink things so this is not different. We will laugh about all this after we are done.

They used to have an ezdown for 05-11 but I believe they stopped making them.

What..not a fan of letting it loudly slam and thinking it'll fly off and break your foot? :D

Haha, well it's even more of a pain in the ass now with my steel tailgate reinforcement and cap. The wife refuses to even try to open it anymore.

You and me both brother, deep down though I avoided reading it so I don’t intimidate myself or convince myself not to buy it but I had a feeling it was a little more than plug n play...however, pretty confident still. Just remember, can’t I die a river without having to cut the head off, so measure, then measure again, then triple measure. If there is any install out there you need to get right the first time, this would be one of them haha...

Also, just in case you've never done one before, that black plastic piece of trim that runs along the fender that has to be removed, it has a push in retainer pin. To remove that pin you first pry up the center piece a little, but not all the way out, then you pry out the entire thing. I've seen mod videos and the person just prays the whole thing out at once. It can come out like that but 9 times out of 10 they break. Watch the video again so you know what I'm talking about. He does it right.

Just in case this is new to either of you as well.

Well, it's just funny how many people get it wrong. I have literally watched videos and the person was so adamant about following the instructions they were dictating and the just popped them out saying things like "well, sometimes they break". Better to have too much information than not enough I always say.
