I was only helping someone out from T4R that started one. Running a GB for these stoves was a major pain in the ass, and I most likely won't do one again because of that.

The entire process. No distributor wanted to have anything to with a GB, and that meant I had to go direct. I don't like handling other peoples money, paying for their item on my own, and relay all the information on. It was pretty time consuming to say the least.

If you're interested in the PS, you won't be disappointed. I've had 3 of them now, and finally settled on the 22" w/windscreen.

If I had to do the gas stove in the pull out kitchen of my trailer again I’d get a Sovereign so I could have a cooktop and grill.

Lets see I think I have 4 or 5 stoves. A MSR whisperlite, A old Svea, an alcohol stove, A Coleman 2 or 4 I don't Remember. Yea 4 stoves. That ought to boil some water for Coffee.

So Partner wouldn't setup a code for the discount and just take the money themselves and ship to buyers? If not that's some pretty shitty business practice when they are selling 15 stoves at once.

I've got the Coleman clone from Bass Pro. Pain in the ass just like a Coleman when trying to cook something and not burn it.

I have a couple hundred stoves. From the late 1800s to present. Some unfired/unused from the 1950s and later. Swedish, German, American, etc. White gas, kerosene, alcohol. Stoves are fascinating.
I have an unfired/unused prototype MSR stove that was made for the military, but it did not get purchased.
I have the 3 burner Coleman 426D my parents bought in 1965, and it still runs great.
I have a Swedish Optimus Traveler Kit (similar to THIS one) made in the late 1910s to the early 1920s for American travelers. A case for it was made in NY, NY by a luggage company still in business.

    I have a Coleman Model 2 & Model 9 (1920s)
2 Basford stoves (Duluth, Minn) from the 1920's.
More than a few Prentiss Wabers stoves (Wisconsin Rapids, Wi) from the 1920s and on.
They all run well, and are easily repaired. They were made that way then.

Old Coleman liquid fuel stoves are almost indestructible. Parts are still available. (Old Coleman Parts) And, only a few things can go wrong. Oil/replace the leather pump cup and/or replace the filler cap gasket. Sometimes bad fuel will clog things up, but they are easily taken apart and put back together.
A clone is not the same.

I have no experience with the PS. But, I have no issues with spending a couple hundred dollars for a stove that works well. Most times you get what you pay for, but not always.

These days, a lot of people do not know how to run a liquid fuel stove. If it is not instant on, it .......

Emergencies, a wood burner is probably a really good option.

It was worth while for me to do it because I took advantage of it.

Partner Steel is distributor based, and doesn't sell direct. This is the same reason why King and Fox won't allow GB's, and you require you to use a distributor. Nothing worse than undercutting the company's that support you.

    Just the basics
Yep, thinking about getting a new 2 person tent. The Passage 2 tent looks good and coming down to $100 vs. $160 normally.

Anyone used Diamox (aka Acetazolamide) for altitude sickness?

When I lived near mountains I was always acclimatized so no issues. These days living across the country from anything that could honestly be called a mountain I often have to go to altitude quickly with little or no acclimatization. I know from experience without acclimatization I get mild AMS (headaches) around 9000. Sleeping unacclimatized at 11000 results in pretty bad AMS (vomiting). I've read of people having decent success with Diamox (brand name) known generically as Acetazolamide to prevent AMS. Usually taken for at least one day before going to altitude and for the first two days at altitude.

Anyone here had any direct experience?

Not personally. A friend made a trip to Mt Kilimanjaro a few years back without taking Diamox while the rest in his party did. He was so sick he almost gave up summiting. Then last year he hiked to Mt Everest base camp. Took the Diamox and had no problems.

He said that it works by helping to get rid of excess CO2. Must be a partial pressure thingy.

I did my 3rd attempt at Rainier. 1) Weather 2) Altitude sickness 3) Success.
I was in as good a shape as I could be, I trained hard.
Diamox helped. I still threw up a lot, but that passed by 5 AM.
All I could eat were Snickers.

I lived at sea level at the time.
