Heat dissipation is an issue with 25% load duty?

And eh no, drums will run way cleaner offroad.

I'd think you'd see more improvement in upgrading the front and have the rears well adjusted. One downside of drums is that they are not fully self adjusting like a disc setup so they do require more maintenance. Even disc setups require maintenance though as cleaning and lubing slides for optimal wear and performance.

Bang for the Buck...a good set of upgraded pads and fluid is hard to beat.

Well no I wasn’t really planning on getting into it. But I mean ok. Drums are newer tech than disc by about a few month iirc. Drums are a solid system for the rear. Served my 01 all the way up to... well. Now. As it sits. Heavy equipment favors drums for good reason. Loads and all that neat stuff. When you mentioned “high end sports cars have them” well, you lost me. It’s a Toyota pickup truck. You should end your quest for sports car handling, because you got a Tacoma. But really I’m cool with just making fun of scientists from summit.

1/2 point for off road debris only. The other 1/2 point goes to drum for protection off road. You missed complexity. I would have given you a full point for that...

If there was any conceivable way heat could be a problem on our rear brakes, that would be a valid point. But, no way in hell that is a problem, so no internet points for you.

Oh, leave @stun gun alone. He has forgotten more than you or I will ever learn.

Where are all the disc brake peeps? Figured I would have witnessed a braveheart scene already in here. On one hand, it’s either or for me. And I think people who love their truck should by all means equip it with whatever they want. If disc brakes get you hard, freakin do it. They certainly look cool. But in the end, we all gonna stop at the stop sign just fine.

Still waiting on OP to debate realistic advantages for rear discs. Would love that debate.

Someone put the brakes on this right now. Disk or drums it doesn´t matter, just make it stop.

Because it's a high performance sports car that is designed with racing in mind and not a fucking pick up truck lol.

This always comes up, well then why doesn't it have independent rear suspension? 500hp? Sequential gearbox?
You're comparing a truck to a sports car, it's not the same thing.

Like mentioned semis use drums . They have their place and really rear disks are not needed unless you're doing a lot is towing or desert racing.

    A few things
Rear discs are needed for the street cred of having matching brightly painted calipers on all 4 corners.

It was actually a brake for a downhill belt application hauling thousands of tons of material in a regen condition. The brake mitigated the chance of disaster lol.

I've have owned a number of cars and trucks In my lifetime and other than some of the old worn out ones I have never really noticed that much difference between disk or drums. I don't like drum brakes on the front like some of the older cars . What I really can't understand is why anyone would buy a Tacoma knowing that it has rear drums and then spend so much time complaining about it. I think you'll find if you just drive the truck for a while you'll stop worrying so much about it
