Extend My Seat bracket on driver's side, side view mirror extensions, tow hitch. Otherwise it is "unmolested".
Before anyone asks, I'm fully aware that this is a Tacoma site and I drive a 2014 FJ Cruiser. No, I can't fit in a Tacoma. Believe me, I tried (and tried).

I stumbled on the site while desperately seeking an answer to my problem with my FJ Cruiser. The rear view mirror blocks my field of view (I'm 6' 6" tall) to the point that I considered driving my FJ to be dangerous. A full 10 to 15 degree section of the windshield is blocked by what I consider to be a low-mounted rear view mirror. I even considered selling my truck after having had it just a year. However, after sitting in close to 50 trucks, SUVs, etc. I've come to the conclusion that most, if not all new vehicles have sacrificed headroom and windshield visibility for the sake of higher mileage. There seems to be nothing better than my 2014 FJ, albeit with an aftermarket Fresnel lens that allows me to see traffic lights, on the market at this time.

Up until this point I've been driving K-5 Blazers/GMC Jimmys, the odd GMC pickup truck, a TDI Beetle, and a '66 Corvette Coupe I just sold that I owner since 1975. (My FJ is remarkably similar in dimensions to my old full-size GMC Jimmy.) I sold the Beetle last year when my hips could no longer withstand the pain from climbing in and out of it. My 1990 GMC Jimmy has been relegated to "plow truck" status. That one is currently modified with seat brackets that allow me to slide the driver's seat 3 inches further back. I also had the seat base cut down 1-1/2" so I can actually see the gauges.

I'm about to order a mirror bracket from ImMrYo (if he still has any of them). I know that the rear view mirror mount on my FJ is different than the mount on a Tacoma, but I believe that I can come up with something that works. I've already added fish-eye mirrors and strap-on towing mirrors that have proved to be helpful on the when I drive to Boston.

Other than the mirror problem, my biggest complaint with my FJ is that it doesn't track well on the road despite new tires and an expensive alignment. Simply stated, it's very sensitive to cross winds.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate with this group. It's amazing what you can pick up about virtually any subject if you are patient enough to do some research.

Welcome! I had a'13 FJ 6speed, ended up going with light racing uca to correct the castor, and that just barely worked at 3" lift. Still an awesome vehicle, especially offroad:thumbsup:
