Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Hey guys quick question, just got my truck back from the dealer and I feel like it's driving more like stock again and want to check. I ran pcmflash and it looks like it did before I flashed 1.04 for the first time.



Is my truck back to stock? Is there any way this could have happened without them specifically flashing it?

The kicker is that I went in for a squeaky rear leaf suspension (as per the TSB) and a leaky rear cargo light (3rd brake light). The didn't have the part for the leak yet but said they fixed squeak with spring silencer, got home today and sure enough, still squeaks, even if I'm just closing the cab doors. My buddy has the same tacoma I do and his doesn't make the noise so I know it's not normal. Classic dealership experience.

 

Just drive it and see how it feels.

If it sucks completly and you want to burn it, its stock.

 

Lol I did drive it like 10 miles home and it felt sluggish again, but I'm just trying to figure out if there's a specific way I can confirm whether or not I'm autistically placebo-ing it

 

If you have techstream or a scan tool or an OBD2 bluetooth adapter (I have Carista with the OBD Fusion App) you can see miles since DTC reset and engine run time since DTC reset. If this number is low, you were reset or flashed back.

Jealous. Friday for me!

 

If they worked on the leaky cargo light, then they may have pulled one of the battery cables as a precaution. Does the tune 'learning' start over if the ECU is reset? If so, maybe you need to do the 15 minute idle re-learn???

 

@OVTune emailed you last night order #2759. Curious, how is the process different now with the new kits that do not come with dongles?

Do I still wait for an activation code or do I just wait for your reply with the tunes?

How’s the mpg on 91 vs 87?

 

Has anyone tried rock crawling or even a 4x4 obstacle course with the new tune? Does it help at all?

 

I started with 1.04, where would I get the 1.03 files? I can't seem to find them.

 

They may be in the flash manager? Not sure. I saved all of mine.

 

I see 18-20 consistently going to work with 91 due to the power be able to keep momentum with my additional weight better.

87 seems to average 16.7-19

 

Did your kit come with the new instructions? Mine comes today and I don’t know the difference in install between the two

 

No. Go to page 1 of this thread to find the instructions otherwise contact Matt if it is change since his last shipment. I received mine on 27 April and have yet to receive back from him my guardiant Registration. For me this is been a frustrating process and I hope it works more smoothly for you.

 

UPS "missorted" mine. unknown arrival now. sad.

 

I received mine yesterday and the card in the box says to go to the website which still has the instructions for the kit with the dongle. I emailed Mat last night and am waiting for a reply to see how activation works with these new kits
