lol, fitness goals.. yup, near impossible to do on leash with a full size dog, they need wide open spaces and something to chase.. In a perfect world dog parks would be safe places for dogs, but that's no slam dunk either.. Excercising a poorly socialized/reactive dog is damn near a full time job.. I love my dog, but she takes a lot of effort to keep happy.. good thing we like the same things.. #bushlife

Met a new friend...a Turkish golden retriever. And I do mean "Turkish"...she was rescued from Turkey. They hit it off quick. Well, hit each other quick.

My brother's old girl 12 hours (and 2 vials of antivenin) after getting bit in the face by a rattlesnake in his own back yard.

She's not out of the woods yet - having some kidney problems and lingering internal bleeding.

Beautiful dogs. My dog goes in the crate in the back. Otherwise, no matter how many hours you spend vacuuming, you'll keep finding hairs. I occasionally drive to work functions. I would find it pretty embarrassing to have to hand out lint rollers to anyone getting in my truck, lol.

I use these rubber gloves from Harbor Freight along with a Kirby vacuum I have just for vacuuming the cars. I think the results are pretty good.

I run my pup each morning and evening, sometimes more. He seems to think every time I come home, seomtimes from going to get something out of the truck in the driveway, it is time to go run. But, I did train him to run and play hard every day. It does not matter if it is rain or shine, though a thunderstorm and I get a look that clearly says "F-U!! Did you not hear that?!?!? I am NOT goin' out there!!

He is 90lbs and can run in the FL summer heat for a good 20+ minutes before showing signs of being winded. I on the other hand can run just about 2 good strides before I show signs of being winded, just walking to the Taco in the FL heat and humidity can cause most any human to break a sweat.

That is why he is trained off leash and he performs very well and has become quite trust worthy.

Each exercise period is also a training period. We work a little everyday and I can trust him to sit down and stare at a rabbit in the yard 10 foot away with no command from me. A single "go" gets uttered and both rabbit and dog are in full sprint, but if the bunny heads out into the road Boomer will run a parallel course. The only sounds he will make is a low growl while chasing, once he hits his boundary (the road) he give 1 or 2 barks and trots back to me proud that he defended the house from the possible invasion of rabbits.

He is very happy and responds well part from daily training, a mostly stable routine, responsibility, basic temperament, and some from maturity. If we are in a more public setting he is leashed. The leash allows me to "steer" him away from situations that look like they could be trouble.

The point is, YOU do not have to do the running you pup does. As we all know, a tired and mentally stimulated dog is a good dog.

    Best of luck!!

Kiki (aka “Little Shit”) coming to check up on her sister Lucy (aka “Murder Dog”) and her recovery progress. Gotta say, pain killers take all the violence out of you. She’s getting better, has motion and feeling in her hindquarters, and is slowly regaining strength. She can stand unassisted, but still needs sling assistance walking.

My brother’s pup Athena is still fighting that rattler to the face. 2 vials of antivenin were given along with a shitload of Benadryl and other drugs to deal with the venom’s effects, and she’s slowly recovering. It’s been a near thing, but she’s tough and not giving up. They found the snake - a big one (5’).

    F09A0A0E-585F-449C-8268-ADF64F72568E.jpg

Between the two dogs, we figure costs exceed an 18’ Tracker with a 100hp motor. We don’t begrudge the money, but damn these pups are expensive!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers.

Not necessary, but thanks for the offer. Because of her kidneys her food is strictly monitored, which is why they thought this might be fatal. Pleasantly surprised and happy she’s still here, all things considered.

We read up a lot on snake training dogs, and how easy it is. Mine definitely need to learn to stay the fuck away from anything that rattles or slithers.

You should investigate the catastrophic pet insurance. We bought for our second set of pugs after first set cost us thousands in operations and medications. Diabetes, cataracts, X2.

It’s less than $100 a month to cover both and the reimbursement is extremely fair on medications and vet visits.

Your vet can explain the different plans.
