So now your basically over $7k with a few options and shipping. I was considering it @ $5k, but probably not now...

Not too surprised. GFC was noticeably lower priced than the rest of the market while offering a premium quality product. While it wasn't cheap at $5k - it did seem like a great deal.

Still is a good deal if you price equivalent options from the competition.

Yeah. A 15% price increase puts me out longer or skip options. I wanted the front window and lighting. My hope was that by the time I order (12mo or so), the front window would open somehow.

I’m fairly certain the base price of $5750 includes the price ding for paying with a CC and shipping. I belive three base price is unchanged. Those that did not pre-order only missed out on shipping. Those of us that pre-ordered with paid by check or paid the extra $150 as well.

Or if the tariff issue forced their hand?

The problem for me is that at almost $6k, I could talk myself into being happy enough with just a canopy.

Although looking at the site again I’m not so sure. It says shipping is not included and is $750.... I’m still thinking it’s 5k plus shipping. Maybe the CC fee is gone now?

i know they had an issue with that early one. Wouldn't be surprised if it was part of it.

for 6k, I'll keep the rtt and bed rack. haha

Wow so it’s changed even in the past few weeks. I’d guess costs are changing, and I think they massively underestimated shipping something this big across the country. Building a pallet alone will cost a few hundred than freight.

White glove delivery would be a huge money saver for them. I’d say at $750 it’s worth the road trip!

Fair enough point. If I were buying right now I would be out too without pre-order and payment already sent. But realistically if you bought base for ~$6k with shipping is pretty attainable for a compact, lightweight solution. Drifter starts at $6500+shipping and that's the closest competitor in price (arguably less durable and more vibration fatigue prone). Only other option is going traditional cap/rtt, or bedrack/rtt combo. Gotta pay to play.

Price point resistance and encroaching $7k is it for me. I don't doubt the quality of the product one bit, but there is a point where price trumps quality on something like this. With the number of orders they currently have and the current lead time well into Fall of 2018, obviously $5k wasn't showing pricing resistance, so I'm not surprise at an increase to test the waters, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a bunch of people out of contention to purchase....

Page 1 of this thread still says 5K. They need to update this to match the website.

i mean i live less that 2 hours from them. Im not taking shipping into account at all.

I've had rtts for 6 years now. I have my complaints about them...but nothing that bad. I mostly love it. GFC has a lot of cool things about it..but for the price difference now..i don't know. Need to do a shop visit and see one.

Or, being a bit claustrophobic / cozy inside a canopy. It's hard to justify $6k and a roadtrip (the fun part), over a $2,000 to $2,500 canopy. That was my plan before GFC launched.

Hence the "arguably". With these two more in line price wise I'm sure there will be some more business to vagabond for those that want more room inside. That said their options list is vastly more expensive. Interested to see one of those in person, but I doubt I will here in the midwest.

Most the reason I justified the GFC was price. A comparable ARE cap and hardshell rtt put me ~$5k, so this being right in line & slicker/all-in-one was a massive plus. But the extra $750 w/o shipping definitely adds to decision making, not to mention current lead times. I was supposed to receive mine by end of next week w/o delay. I doubt any order right now would be fulfilled before winter w/o implementing some hardcore lean principles. I'm betting the demand is overwhelming and also a main driver for cost increase. More units = more people to hire = more cost.
