Curious why people would go this route for stock spec LCA besides it being stronger.

Well...you get poly bushings. Hydro bump stop plate and could run secondary shocks.

So went camping Tuesday night and got a flat. my current tire size is 265/75r16. Probably at about 30-40% life left. the spare that I had with me was a 265/70r16 pretty much the stock spare that came with the truck. no choice but to switch it in. is this bad for the rear diff? open diff 4x4 if that makes a difference. I am currently driving it like that still and will be just switching all 4 tires hopefully in the week.

 

Not going to hurt anything. Just don't lock the diff if you have a locker.

 

Switch it to the front so that your drive tires (back rear tires) are the same size. Much better that way.

Size difference between those two is only what...a half inch? I don't think it's going to hurt anything short term either way. Some people run new tires with bald ones that are probably worse than that lol.

 

Not gonna hurt it.

But as mentioned, best to run it up on the front passenger side. This will keep your spider gears from over working.

 

What about running the factory spare with 255’s?

thats a very big size difference so you should definitely plan on running it up front on the passenger side.

 

yea, but my dad had a truck from those times and i remember him washing it and just sprayed inside to remove mud.

i grew up in the mid west so i got the belt. wish we can still do that as a punishment cause damn my sisters kids need it.

 

Speaking of spares... Just spent another $280 for a matching tire on my 5th matching wheel.
This upgrade to tundy brakes is the gift that keeps on giving.

Try not being that stirthepot guy with me. Instead, state directly and clearly what it is you want to say instead of trying to imply something with indirect comments meant to elicit a desired response. It always seems highly manipulative to me when you respond to me the way you do.

 

How are you guys doing spare rotations anyway? I haven't needed to use my spare yet, but it's brand new. I know some people like to rotate them in. The system I am currently using is that if I ever bust a tire, I'll put the spare on, then replace the busted tire with a new one, and take one of my used one out of rotation and into the spare position. So I would have two new tires on the front or back, and two used on the front or back. Opinions?
