I know you're familiar with the whole three choices, pick two model. Applies here. :D As far as suspension I'm pretty sure someone already said it - buy once, cry once. Tires would be the first thing, but you do get into that need lift to fit bigger tires conundrum if you don't do everything at once. On the other hand, if a 'new' set of tires will last you until you can afford to do the suspension and need tires at the same time anyway... Plenty of good partial used sets come up on CL and here all the time. I've run some of the trails that are local with both the stock Dunflops that came on my Sport and BFG KOs. Tires made a significant and noticeable difference even on the easy ones. I've done almost everything but Green Ridge/Bald Mountain without sliders or real skids. One of my Sevenmile runs I almost really wished I would have had sliders (long story), but that was due to a severe erosion problem present at the time that isn't normally there. I've run a lot of stuff that isn't local without either as well, and I would definitely get sliders and skids before suspension. Hit up Old Flowers and Sevenmile, you can do those completely stock. Crystal/Moody (what of it is open) too really, and that's the one where tires were most noticeable to me having run it with both - particularly on the bare rock hill near the start. Slightly larger tires and stock suspension are more than enough to do a lot of what's around here. You just need to start small and get the experience/comfort level up.

Point of order / Devil's Advocate: The bike lanes are there. They simply get 'protection' from the extra width not needed to convert two travel lanes to a center turn lane. And such a conversion might actually help with the congestion. I was just driving that stretch on Monday (full disclosure, I don't on any kind of regular basis and I bet you do), and twice there was a big 10+ car backup from some person trying to turn left, with random people in that 10 cars swinging out quickly into the right lane when they could get a chance. Same shit happens all the time on Drake and Prospect east of College (which I do frequent). Give a chance, see if it works. City changes things once in a while (Mason, roundabouts) and sometimes it's better, sometimes it isn't.

Also not every cyclist is a spandex warrior, not every spandex warrior is an ass, and some of the cyclists who aren't spandex are asses (especially when you get in radius of CSU). Personally I'd much rather have bike lanes on a road like that for people who do choose to ride it instead of the inevitable slowdown/backup because someone isn't comfortable either passing the cyclist in the lane and wants to take the left lane to do it, so they slow to the bike's speed until they can (also happens on Prospect and Drake).

I feel the need for more V8 rumble in my life.
@thefatkid, is there a good set of headers you would recommend?
Or would it be better to just go with dual exhaust/mufflers and stick with the stock headers?
Or should I leave it alone and just get a sound chip like the ricers do?

you may have a point. And it's obvious i have a slight dislike for the bike crowd, and yes i ride mine all the time too, however i don't try to be that asshole in the left turn lane that thinks he/she can move as fast as a car, although some actually can, but most fail at it. Those light cycles are short enough without having to wait on a cyclist whose simply out for exercise.
Biggest pita is like you mentioned, that one car, usually a Honda Fit, (irony) can't seem to squeeze their away around the cyclist and ends up holding traffic back until they have an opportunity to cross the yellow line and swing that pos out into oncoming traffic and cause an accident.

And speaking of exercising on that damn bike in heavy city traffic, and this isn't directed at anybody, breathe deep assholes, work those lungs and fill them with carbon monoxide, and follow those VW's, they run super clean too, should be a lot of lung cancer in their future. Not to mention all the heavy truck traffic due to every fuckin street being torn all to shit. Why does this sound like a good time/place for cardio?

You could put a bike and a treadmill in the garage now that you've moved the cool stuff out
