20180517_164516.jpg 20180517_164456.jpg Some pics of the chem burns from the gas. I have taken off and put back of the filter probably 20 times for hours and the inlet still leaks

I think he said fuel filter, but looks like a good device for the oil filter

Ah misread. Thought he said oil filter. As for the fuel filter, I had no issue really. The nuts barely wanted to turn, so it took long, but otherwise wasn't difficult for me.

But yeah that oil filter tool made a world of difference.

Nah man. The oil filter I got to from u der the truck. I slid the filter down from the topside and reached up and screwed it in with my hand.
I'm talking about the fuel filter. Taking it off and putting it on is easy. For some reason these aftermarket filters wont seal correctly. I've tried three in the last 2 days. Finally went and got an OEM one today from the dealership.

I used a Wix brand fuel filter that works great....hopefully there isn't something else causing your issue

I was using duralast. I am about to head out to the garage to put the new OEM one in.

Oh that might be why. I went OEM right away. Figured it lasted ~180K miles without issue (though I am sure it was well past due), so I'd change it then and be good for quite a while.

As for the oil filter, how do you manage to get the filter from under the truck? IIRC I couldn't manage to get any grip on it to unscrew the old one without taking the tire off and struggling to barely reach it and get pissed trying to start loosening it lol

I've never had issue getting my oil filter off by reaching over the tire through the wheel well...have to unclip the splash guards but it's pretty easy from there. Then again I guess if you have bigger tires it might make it that much harder...not too bad with 32s.

:notsure: I am on stock size tires, so idk why I have such an issue. Maybe shorter arms? No idea. Maybe I just tighten my filters too much.

Removed the skid plate, you can see the oil filter from under the truck. I reached my arm in and put the filter socket on without the wrench attached. (I used a socket style wrench that attached to a 3/8 drive) the I slid the wrench in and felt for the hole on the socket. I dont tighten my filters to a point where I really need a wrench though. I couldn't remove the old filter from the underside so I balanced it somewhere right there and pulled it out from the top.

Also I put in a k&n filter this time that has a nut welded to the top of it. Super easy to get a small wrench on it.

Anone know what this vsv does, seems only my year has it...

    15266032286502765772992893477281.jpg

Wondering if I can out it from my new intake. Even the supercharger install manual says only this year needs to have a Barb put in for it but doesn't say what it does.

Just figured it out, apparently later on they used the IACV to control idle up for AC but on this year they essentially used this thing to get air past the throttle body to idle it up.
