The wife hates the fact that my truck doesn't have a mirror on the passenger side sun visor. My question is does anyone know if the SR is prewired at all if I were to purchase an SR5 passenger visor with mirror and lighting? If not, any way I would be able to tap into the map lights? Thanks

not sure if you are prewired, but I know the SR lacks a few of the available options so I am assuming no, its not prewired. You can definitely tap off the hot for the map lights though, super close too

Not sure if this is for you or not, but they do make a clip on mirror with lights that uses batteries. Amazon has them.

No. Run a wire and add tap a fuse off block. Best way imo.

For thousands more than upgrading for a fraction.
You can make an SR with tech pkg way better than SR5 for lower price.

And when you are finished, you will still have a "shade-tree" SR.

"Shade-Tree" is a term used to explain "modifications" done in the back yard under a tree. You must be a youngster, Tacoman.

No matter what you do to the truck, it's still an SR.

That makes 0 sense and means nothing actually.
What do you think an SR5 has that an SR doesn't have that can't be added / changed ? But better. Wiring and all is there bro.
Some people throw away their suspension parts and tires on day one. Many SR5's have the TRD PRO grill now. Hows that fit in here, it's 'still' an SR5 ? Shift knob, skid, fogs, led lights, lifts, lenses, audio, etc.
Guess people want the sticker that says sport when they drive off the lot LOL $$$.
Bottom line it will look and perform much better except for the missing number 5 paid for.

I'm reading these posts and people say the JBL system sucks. And you paid $$$ for it. :)

All Tacoma trucks start off as an SR. Things get added/ upgraded to make it one of the other trims. I know what shade tree means and it does not apply in this context.

Dude, it's not like he is planning on just letting the wire hang across the cab. I'm sure the plan is for a clean install.
What kind of childish reply was that? This forum is full of folks modding and adding things to their trucks, it doesn't mean all these mods are "shade tree". I have seen some look better than what the factory could have done.

Someone's just having a bad day daddy_o, I'm enjoying his childishness. If only I had his amazing 1 step up from my "Shade tree" SR5!

Not wanting to jump into the other part of this conversation, but I will add that I bought an SR5 over an SR mostly for the digital dash display. As far as I know there isn't a way to add it to the SR.

Wrong. Easy to do. There is a thread on it. About $200.
Cluster swap and right hand key pad.
Add a leather wheel for about $50 more.
Sell your old stuff out and its even cheaper.
I modded it on a few now. They even have inclinometer now. Do you ?

Do you have to reprogram the mileage? I would definitely had gone with a SR V6 4X4 then for just a little more.
