Yeah it’s bern changed around a few times these past few weeks from the looks of things. Looks like my spot in line with pre-order just got much more valuable.

Any offers for pre-order spot 41? :gossip:

    Lol

Haha! It definitely makes the pre-order folks look like geniuses.

I'm just making myself feel good for jumping on a pre-order or two in the past.

Lol tempting. But I literally work at a Brewery for a living.... now if some Pappy Van Winkle was on the table I couldn’t say no. Well. It’d be harder anyway.

So yes, I was a paid pre-order so $5k delivered.

I and others like me who did this took a leap of faith that GFC would deliver a quality product. I installed mine today and although I've only had it for about 24 hours, they have nailed it! The quality is obvious once you see it in person.

I also drove about 40 miles of 70 mph interstate in a pouring rain and it was totally dry inside. No wind noise at that speed either. Other than needing some help placing it on the truck, I did the install by myself and with lots of tinkering and looking, it took 3 hours. This included probably 45 minutes of unpacking and playing with the pop-up and cushions before really getting serious about the install. Graeme helped with a couple of texts and a phone call.

$5k is/was a screaming deal and once a few more of these are roaming in the wild, they will continue to sell out months in advance. IMHO, there is nothing even close to this in quality or function under $9k.

I didnt preorder but i did order one back in April, before the price increase. I am glad I did, saved myself $750. I am from the Southeast and I plan to drive West and pick mine up in September.

I am assuming those that submitted payment before the price increase are locked in at that $5000 base price. By effectively saving $750 i may add some options to make up what I saved.

Its all business, I am sure they got slammed with orders and had to add overhead/supply and demand. It looks like a great product and I am excited to receive it. It is still competitively lriced but will probably drive away those that were on the fence. GFC has been quiet on the forum lately.....come back. @wileydavis @gmacmt

I got the fan and lights. Lights not hooked up yet as I'm undecided on how I'm going to power my camper electrical. I'm an old fart so not really up to speed on a youtube walk-around. It's pouring rain in central NC right now but I will post a few more pics once I have them.

For those wondering about how "tight" the tent will be for dust or rain penetration, the top is difficult to close if all the sleep cushions are in place due to the tent trapping air when you start lowering the roof. (This is with all the windows closed.) This may seem obvious but it remains this way for several minutes. The solution seems to be to remove one of the cushions and it closes very easily.

Great there is such a demand. Glad to see these companies succeed. Imagine the increase in market if you could get these into the $3-5k range. Maybe that will be there 2nd entry level product next year!

    Ha! Insta-what?
I hope to have power to the lights tomorrow. Getting 12v to it is simple enough. What I meant in my earlier post was my decision on dual batteries, their location, a battery box, etc. There are dual led strips on the outer edges of the roof and one strip underneath the bed floor near the cab so I too will be interested in how well it lights for said rummaging.

Same here... I ordered (at almost $900 BEFORE batteries) a dual battery kit from a vendor I will not mention. Long story short I got so fed up with the lack of communication and run around I ended up returning it... going this route instead.

Prob throw a NOCO jump box in my truck as well just in case. But my ARB fridge has low voltage sensing so really I don’t think I could ever run down a good group 31. Link above seems to be like the best choice for holding one. IMHO

WOW, I'm reading all the posts and there is a lot of confusion. And I think the confusion is on the vendor. I just looked at their website and both the front page and the "purchase" page say base model $5750.00. Knowing there is a lot of excitement around this product and the fair price, they simply adjust their price up and offer up no explanation. I thought this was something I could work toward and justify with my wife but I gotta say this bumps me into another direction. I get that theirs is the lowest priced in this market, A major part of the appeal for folks wanting to get into the overlanding scene. This kind of competition should force others to come down so more can enjoy the outdoor life.

The outdoor life doesn’t pay bills. If someone wants to buy this to add to their enjoyment of the outdoor life, that’s what it’s there for.

The idea of lowering the price of something that only targets a incredibly small niche group to begin with is counter intuitive.

If $5k was affordable but $5750 isn’t, then that person likely wasn’t a buyer at $5k anyway. $750 is not breaking anybody’s bank when they’re already spending $5k.

Market competition doesn’t equate to selling products for less than what they’re worth. It means the mark up and overall pricing has to be considered. Not how much can we afford to lose per unit before we go bankrupt.
