This is what I was thinking. And did they have some fine print about reviews?

Lol ....letters like that from “attorneys “are called FUCK YOU letters ! Most people never get threatening letters from “attorneys”, so they panic when they receive one.
I received one in a similar situation, so I posted more fact based info on several sites and returned a FUCK YOU letter back to the (said) attorney! Never got a reply ....

Really, please keep us up to date on this! You are fully protected to do what you did, so document everything, phone calls, letters, everything. If they are idiots and keep harassing you, they could end up being heavily fined in your favor.

Right on brother! As he did not receive the benefit of his bargain the very “contract” thought to raise and limit his actions.

Since you are in California, in addition to Federal Law, thank Governor Brown for signing into law AB 2365, which states that a sales contract “may not include a provision waiving the consumer’s right to make any statement regarding the seller or lessor or its employees or agents, or concerning the goods or services.” Any contract terms violating this provision are void. Simply including a prohibited clause in a contract, even if the business never enforces it, or threatening to enforce such a clause can lead to a penalty of up to $2,500 for their first offense, and $5000 for the second (up to $10,000 if the violation is willful).

    https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201320140AB2365

If they tried that, you may go get some new mods on them!

Fair enough . Mad at myself. For going there in the first place. However i only took it to the bodyshop at toyota. 2 other shops would not warranty the repair. That said it was such a hassle fuck up they deserve a truthful review so nobody else has this happen. They could not align my truck even close after purchasing the parts required from them.

Canada?! Oh, sorry- then you are screwed.:sadviolin:

Just kidding, sorry about that, I thought you were in Cali. Good luck with all that, sounds like in all fairness though, you did the right thing.

Doesn’t matter if it’s Canada...their part of a international treaty dealing with the reservation of rights...allows him to defend that review with impunity.

Edit: ok - my joke above was actually not a good one at all- based on a few things I just read about Canadian law, as of last year, there does not seem to be any consumer protection laws for posting negative reviews, you may want to not reveal the business name anywhere else online, and be sure your Yelp review is very fair. Do it soon before Wayback grabs a capture of your review.

Hmm, ok well I agree but its his time and money to do it. Just saying there may not be the same type of protection that US citizens have. Everyone should be able to do it freely, Im suprised Canada wasnt first with these laws.

Now if it were England, he’d be SOL.

Tell them and their lawyer they can go fuck themselves. You are entitled to your opinion and if they don’t like it they can fix their fuck ups or see you in court. You literally cannot lose this one. In fact, counter sue for defamation of character, harassment, damages, lost wages, and emotional distress while you’re at it. You’ll be a millionaire.

He’s in Canada, not US. And like us in California, Texas also has strong laws protecting your rights to post reviews online too. And if his review shows any malice, his case is lost.

    Well.

    That changes things.

Politely tell them to go fuck themselves and add some pictures to your rightfully posted negative review. Politely request proper corrective maintenance.
