Nice herd you’ve got there. I’ve got a IDGAF first gen steel honzo frame that’s been hanging for a few years while I beat the piss out of the alu version honzo. Well then this happens:
    98EEC6B1-402F-4D3C-9651-641414E1FE5F.jpg
Everything breaks sooner or later, esp when you just plain ride a lot, and you’re rolling well over 200lbs. I probably spent time on that bike as much full suspension bike, esp thru the winters. And Kona lifetime warranty, thank you! A replacement will be in the mail soon!

In the meantime, back to old steelie.

    New bike day.

Spent the last 4 hours in my office building it up. Got a big weekend planned on the trails around ATX (thank goodness the gf is working all weekend).

Whatever you get, get nerdy about suspension. The more I learn about tuning, the better bikes get. Currently loving DVO fork I have on both trail bikes. Should get an avalanche cartridge back in the mail soon for my dh bike. Can’t wait.

I live two miles from Blankets. My Tacoma is on order so I cannot add to this sweet thread yet.

Yea I went pretty nuts back when I first got my job. After being on a DH hiatus for 7 years, it hit pretty hard once the dough came back. The scout is a sick all around ride...always wanted one, but had the bromad by that point. I love my smuggler though, thing can take a road gap and yet still climb like a dirt roadie.

Yea man you aint kidding...partly why I went the steelie route although I have to admit it doesn't get ridden as much as it should. I am on my second road bike due to cracking my previous frame. Im not exactly the "finesse" type either which is why I prefer the heavier stout stuff at this point.

A do-everything bike. 140mm 27.5" slack monster. Put a dropper on that bish, decent fork and wheels, and ride everything

Im thinking get savage on the rotational speeds with a transition sentinel 29er. Damn thing has a 64 head angle with 140mm...you know that bitch is ready.

Yea I checked the 27.5 140mm scout and it had a 65 degree which was pretty crazy to see in comparison to the sentinel. Last I checked on PB that sentinel was the new hotness, I would have gotten that if it was out when I got my smuggler.

Ah...didn't realize you are a NE guy. Could be time to get a solid all around bike...DH season is almost here!
