If anyone is looking for a full sized spare, I can bring a new 315/75/16 Cooper Discovery STT Maxx to Rausch this weekend.

Rausch day. Karen, @HolyHandGrenade , @El Dahs , and myself. We fought the good fight the entire day. My homemade soft shackle was seriously put to the test.We have now dubbed it the super shackle.

It was about as much fun as one could have on a day like today. Everyone picked good lines too. Except for Tim. Tim's lines suck. Don't be like Tim.

    Just a thought:

You probably don't need the soft shackle in this instance because it introduces a possible additional failure point.

The steel D-shackle could easily bring the end loops of the tree-saver and the snatch block together.

Or vice versa, delete the D-ring and use a soft shackle (with an abrasion sleeve, to protect against the abrupt edges of the snatch block attach point) to bring the tree-saver end loops and snatch block together.

    My non-expert opinion.

Everything was Tims idea. We tried to tell him but he doesn't listen.

You're right, however, testing. I wanted it to fail and it didn't.

"Hey Mark good job on that soft shackle"

    "Thanks Lloyd!"

:notsure: In this one, you coulda removed a failure point by bypassing the hook. Thread the soft-shackle through the winch line end loop and the tree-saver (just move the hook aside.)

And the bonus: You would still be testing your soft shackle, which BTW, you have done a great job tying!!! You're welcome Mark!
