I did the same as you. I thought it was just double-sided sticky tape & the exposed side was just holding the wires in place.

Same here left mine on too. I didn’t see a reason to remove them and it’d make it hard to remove if I ever had to

I'd be willing to bet most of us left it on! I had no idea until now that it was 2 sided.

I used the term "adhesive protector" for lack of a better term. They can probably be left on without problems, I just figured they were meant to be removed. If I ever do need to remove the ultimate dome light, I doubt the tape is so sticky as to make them that much harder to remove.

See page 17. It involves disconnecting the middle wire that connects to the dome light. It makes it so that you can leave the front light switch on the "door trigger" setting so that the map lights will come on automatically when the doors are open, without the dome lights coming on (as long as you have the dome lights on the off setting).

Got my ultimate dome in the mail yesterday! Thanks @mesojdm for the quick shipment. Now if I could only get my truck (that I've been waiting 7 months for). . . :annoyed:
Will post pics/review once I install

Ultimate Dome delivered today and installed within 5 mins. Love the output. Easy install, although the bulb adapter spring took a bit of fumbling with to get it in. Overall very happy.

My best tip for installing the spring adapter:

1)Squeeze it together with your fingers(pre loading it)
2)while still pinching it together, position it up into the original bulb slot.
3)Insert the passenger side up in first ((NEGATIVE)) followed by the Drivers side (POSITIVE)).
4)Finally, let go of the tension and it springs into place. It's really simple.. although I've done it a million times.

Added the dome light to my 2nd gen

And added a 3rd gen dome light to my fiancé’s 2009 corolla
Interior is grey, but black doesn’t look bad
Will post night shots of my 2nd gen once it gets dark (corolla is in the garage)

How was the 2nd Gen install/fitment?
    Color looks spot on.

Wow, the 3rd gen dome fits a corolla too... well I'll be damned.

    Fit like a glove. :woot:
I’ll be definitely buying some map lights once they’re ready and maybe 2 extra just the light bulbs themselves (another little project I’m working on with a 194 bulb)

Well, i'm visiting my parents now for Victoria Day and I think I may just have to test it in their Camry.

This could be opening up a whole new market for you @mesojdm!

I would. The only difference would be color

Sorry her corolla is grey interior my mistake.

    Here’s in the dark:

Right! I know they fit the 5th Gen 4 runners as well. I think Toyota consolidated Designs/SKU's and put the same dome in all the new cars/trucks
If you wanted, the LED array panels just pop out. you could then hit the housing with some tan paint and then reinstall.

    Happy with the output?

Another cool feature about having the LEDS "recessed" in the panel is reduced glare. Standing outside the truck looking in, you aren't blinded (like a normal clear lens dome light). The little squares help direct the light straight down(where you need it) and not out the side.
