Our minimum requirement is 3 characters. You could literally set it as "abc" or "123". We require them to be changed every 90 days. People whine endlessly about that, and I can't understand it. They can't remember something that's potentially only three characters?

Thing is, whenever I find someone who has had their email account compromised and sending out spam, it's someone who had their password set to never expire. I searched for all of those a while back and changed that so they have to expire.

What kind of IT people do you have that ask for your password? I have never done that! Don't want to know it, either. If I change it and login, there's an audit trail. If I just know it and login, there isn't.

My local IT guy has only asked for my password if I left my computer with him and it was logged out when I gave it to him. Our remote IT dept, who we normally call for help, just needs the computer name to gain access. Our IT guys are actually pretty good, easy to get ahold of and generally solve the problem inside of a 5 minute phone call.

Got a 20hp tohatsu, more than I need for a 14ft but if I ever wanted To upgrade to a little bit bigger boat down the road I can bring my motor with me.

I was thinking about these but 1000rpm doesn’t let m break it in, I’ll wait and just put it on when I am done painting. Was just trying to get ahead so when I actually want to use it It would be all set. Calls for a 10 hour break in period and the first 5 keep you pretty restricted.

Like to see some pictures after you put it on!

We do know all the kids' passwords, because we assign them randomly.

High schoolers used to set them on their own, but the amount of reset requests was unbelievable. Lots of repeat offenders, too. Teachers complained about it being inconvenient that we don't necessarily have a moment to reset a password immediately and the kid can't work in the meantime. No, that's not the problem. The kid needs a sense of responsibility, especially when it's one that I've reset 10 times this month.

So, I randomly assign them passwords now and they can't change them. Solves the problem as far as everyone is concerned, but it doesn't solve the responsibility issue.

Will do. Truck is taking shape, I have parts lined up just waiting for a good install day. I have a tool box mounted now, until I save for a cap, need to mount the Rigid lights up front, have LED pods for the rear, the bed mat and reverse sensors to be drilled in. Rob is looking into some other minor mod parts for me also.

I was about to say, if you're using Windows machines, a well set up IT department should never need your password. If you're on a Mac, I'm honestly not sure.

Haha, wow. My brother is a CPA and audits a lot of large healthcare providers, so he is accessing a TON of personal data. I don't blame his IT department for whatever the minimum requirements are, one computer or email address gets compromised and that's how you end up with news stories about millions of SSN and HIPPA protected medical records getting hacked.

At my work I forget what our requirements are, but they aren't bad. They are also moving everything to MFA, so unless you have the person's cell phone too (and can authenticate on there using either a separate password or fingerprint), our login passwords are not much help by themselves.

Only thing I don't like it on is applications that time out after like 15 minutes of non-use, and then you have to re-authenticate from the beginning. Not a huge deal, but just a little annoying if it times out on you a few times a day.
