My wife drove my Tacoma for the first time a couple weeks ago. We sold her 4Runner a week before that, prior to a move so all we had is my truck and when movers came she had to go to some appointments out of necessity and needed the truck.

I re-taught her to drive 2 years ago after not having driven in probably 8 yrs due to health condition, and all she had been driving was the 4Runner we had. So needless to say I had a bit of anxiety every time she’d drive off.

Gave her about 15 min of a test drive to get her comfortable driving it a night before she needed it and that was it.

But I remember my first day of learning to drive was my dad picking me up from school and throwing me in the driver seat of his 1st gen and saying “drive us home”, so not too big a deal lol.

The rock crawler/buggy is a manual. She is coming home soon. I will learn. One day.

I know plenty of women that know how to drive a manual. Back in '06 when Tokyo Drift was hot shit every chick was learning to drift. It's not a man specific skill by any means.

My wife gets excited to drive mine. She asks me like a kid would ask if she could buy a toy at a store.

Nope! She refuses to drive anything but her Wrangler. She "hates" every vehicle I've had, and our family only travels as a unit in her ride by her demand... lol. But she'll let me drive her Jeep tho...

Taught all 3 of my kids to drive a stick. I told them they had to be able to drive a stick, check oil and tires, change a tire ALONE, and hit their target at 25+ yards with a handgun before I would let them get a driver's license. :amen:

I tested their shifting with a full glass of water. They had to be able to go from a dead stop to 3rd gear and back to a full stop without spilling it. My son had the toughest time with that but eventually got it.

They have all been driving for years now. They all have vowed to never drive a stick unless they have to.

But if they have to, I think they could drive damn near anything.

She drives her own 4Runner. She has only driven the truck a couple times, and has only taken the Mustang to work once. She got a lot of comments on it that day, apparently.

No... It took me the 400 mile road trip home to get my seating position perfect. Nobody better ever adjust it!

I honestly think she's too short to drive it anyway. She prefers her crossover, I prefer my Tacoma, and we both love and drive our FR-S. The third car keeps the marriage strong. :)

Hell yeah. As a matter of fact, my favorite “situation” occurred in the south part of Lockwood Valley (other side of Hungry Valley), near Maricopa Hwy (33) on a strong rainy day. Those of you who know those washes know what’s coming up. So we’re behind a lifted Dodge heading back towards Frazier Park when we come across a strong “river” crossing the road. The Dodge stopped, and a woman gets out of the driver’s side and her man steps out of shotgun. They got past it. However, it was fucking gnarly looking and to this day, thank the driver for stopping to make sure we got past. That was a class act. So I’m sitting shotgun and tell my wife to engage 4LO, locker, Atrac on the previous ‘12 OR and be cool and be ready to stomp on it if need be. I was surprised we got through with no issues. I never felt the truck get unstable. Flashed the Dodge, and off we went. Might be midsize, but it handled it very well.

She will drive it if it is necessary, but it's not her favorite. The driving experience between her Avalon and my Tacoma is very different. Although my Tacoma has a pretty good trim level, it doesn't come close to the creature comforts of her Avalon.

My girlfriend wife to be can't drive a standard. I'm willing to teach her on a loaner Standard vehicle. She is welcome to drive my taco anytime but she isn't learning how to drive with my clutch.....

Nope, not even once, but she drives a 4Runner and is happy enough with that (except their damn non-level folding third row seats).
