Our tailgates have an integrated spoiler of sorts, and I do think that it's a great look. I personally dont care much for the look of the spoiler cap, but that just me. I prefer a minimalist look

Yeah, I just went out and looked at the truck, and for some reason never noticed the way the top of the tailgate flares towards the back. I think anything extending beyond that would make the rear of the truck look funky. Another "leave well enough alone" moment!

You will notice this on all new trucks. Trucks have air flow separation over the bed, for greater aerodynamic efficacy you want it to reattach at the tailgate. A wider landing target gives a wider operating range of speed and other conditions for for the reattachment, which equates to improved fuel economy. I believe it was Ford that did a presentation on their tailgate CFD analysis at the SAE conference last year.

How does it mount where it sits in the painted tailgate? Seems like it would be just as likely to scuff the paint up over time just from vibration.

I was eyeing this piece a few months ago and it was $170, then when it jumped to $230, including all of the other parts i was considering, which were the rocker panels. I gave them a call and they wouldn't honor the old price, so i gave up. let me know if they change their minds. Nice Pro btw.

It does actually look great in those pictures, particularly the way it picks up the line wrapping to the tailgate from the rear quarter. I would have bought one at $160, but agree that $230 is too high for a piece of formed ABS that's installed with 3M tape.

Was looking for a random part for my dads 08 Tacoma, looks like RockAuto has some of those tailgate spoilers in stock, but only like 2 or 3. If you were one of the people looking for them, get it quick
