What HP does your scanguage say your tacoma is putting out? With my 2.4L, the scanguage says about 25-45 with normal driving, then about 80-100 when WOT. This cant be accurate, can it?

I think it's an estimate of the percentage of the available power being used rather than a horsepower number.

Really? Then the info on the scanguage website is incorrect. They claim it is "actual" HP

FWIW the 2.4 dynos I have seen are putting 99 to 100 h.p. to the tires. :)

For a 1998 truck, its about normal. My 2000 2.7, dynoed when stock at about 106, and it was rated at 150. All 2.4's and 2.7's I have seen ynoed are right in that neighborhood. :)

Consider also, the HP rating is for a factory fresh engine, likely rated at sea level. Now factor in some loss of compression with age, air filters somewhat blocked, and, if you are higher than sea level, there is simply less air up there the higher you go. Humidity also robs engines of power. Wear and tear on spark plugs and less than perfect injectors also come into play.
