    Hi,

I recently purchased a second gen supercharger and rebuilt it. Now i just need to put it on. I have the "install kit" but have seen a lot of people saying i need to get the 7th injector. The truck it came off of was not running a 7th injector (came from a dealer in prescott AZ). Is it a bad idea to put it on and wait a little until i have the funds to buy the 7th injector (broke college kid).

Any other tip would be great as well.

    Thank you.

You'll need some kind of extra fueling. It'll run okay, but you'll see the computer pull timing and it'll underperform, especially if you put your foot into it too fast. Sometimes it'll be slower than stock because it had to save itself without the extra fuel. Maybe look into methanol injection, bout half the cost of the 7th, downside is you have to hope the computer can tune enough for it (it should though)

Thank you for your help. I just finished putting it on and am just waiting for some new throttle body bolts so i can start it up and see how it runs while i wait for the 7th injector to show up.

Does anyone know what the bolt size and thread pitch is, maybe i could find the bolts locally?

You should be fine with the stock pulley and the elevation you get from being in AZ, but some engines ping no matter what and if you want to run smaller pulleys definitely look into fuel mods. Here's some good info:

The OP is in Flagstaff, which it may not be high as Denver, but it is a lot higher than Phoenix.

I don't ping audibly but enough to get timing to retard. PHX is only 1k feet though, Flag is 7K and likely with stock pulley he won't ping, won't be able to get enough air to get near full boost for that pulley.

Just remember if you do get the 7th, you may need to get the Split Second software cd from URD as well to tune it properly. I've had the 7th installed for about a year now and it still pings under some circumstances. Better than it was before but not 100% yet

Okay i will keep that in mind. How hard is the 7th injector install?

I just started up the truck and can't seam to get it to idle correctly, other than that seam to be running fine.

Any time the throttle body comes off the idle is wonky for awhile. Should go back to normal after a day or two. Last time I took mine off to clean it and replace the gasket, the idle was at 1500 for a day or so. Eventually worked it's way back down to normal ~750

How long are the bolts? The top ones look like they would be shorter? Do people cut them down to fit?

I'm not sure TBH, I have a 4cyl so mine are likely different length. I bought longer studs at ACE because I used a super thick Teflon gasket.

Going on a hunch here and guessing you're competent with this stuff. I'd recommend a methanol kit or a FIC6 with larger injectors. They will both be cheaper than the 7th kit and will perform better.
