I don't mind sharing spots with you fellas.

It'll be an interesting time that's for sure. I am just now getting into mapping out my trails on google earth and using Gaia before heading out. If I make a solid route I will be sure to share the gpx file with you guys.

Don't know how I missed this message. I was actually thinking of that same weekend as it would give me the most time without taking any days off from work.

I would be doing old school on the ground camping as I don't have my softopper :(

I got a GREAT spot just out of Bridgeport to the west! The Travertine HS is due east behind the FS office on 395. Really accessible to everyone. Nekkid things. Old nekkid things. Old, saggy, large nekkid things.

Buckeye HS is west of Bridgeport. While the FS road to is is pretty decent, its a longer drive and that seem to keep some folks away. But Ive seen Geo Metros up there... Theres a FS campground near it too. Its a decent walk down to the creek and the springs.

I avoid the campground crowd and camp here. Theres huge ruts from water runoff but nothing you cant get past in a stock Taco.

There just a little dirt road turn off that goes up the hill. Camping is on the right, at the end of the road. (the road actually looks like it goes on further, but it ends just a few yards later and theres no campsites up there. From the campsite, you can walk out to the point and it overlooks Bridgport. Its a great spot to watch the 4th of July fireworks from !!

I'll be up there next Thu-Sun. This looks like an interesting backroads trip from Sierra City to Lindsey Lake.

Any idea where you’ll be camping?
Let me know if you don’t mind an extra rig tagging along. Or maybe we can meet up to run a trail or explore the area.

I’m bringing the family and we may also do tent camping, although something about sleeping in my softopper brings back memories of hiding out in my cardboard and blankets built fort, so may also do that.

Like I said, pretty much relying on my bud who works at Yosemite, says he knows of some BLM land close to hot springs we can camp at.
He also avoids the camping crowds and assured me this place is pretty isolated so we’ll see.

I didn't even really plan anything out just yet. I was just talking to my girlfriend about the trip as we have been trying to go somewhere to kick off the start of the summer season. So it would just be me and her. I don't mind taking another rig or however many there would be as this would be my first off the beaten path trip with the Tacoma since buying it.

All I know is...I wanna find a hot spring location that has less foot traffic than the ones everyone typically goes to.

Let me see if I can get some more info from him on the general vacinity of this camp site.

    Although,
The spotts @Cuffs shared look promising and I’m sure would be fun also.

I did a google earth view of that general area and there seems to be a ton of trails that branch off around there. Would be interesting to see.

Then you want Buckeye HS just west of Bridgeport.

If you wanted to go further south, there’s another remote HS east of Mammoth.

He’d work for the concessioner then. I was there 2015-this December. (But the camps are summers only. I was a permanent. And I only went to Glen Aulin twice.)

I’ve got a couple other spots closer to Lee Vining if y’all need those.

sounds about right. I remember him mentioning some distinction between he and other employees.

Any of your spots in vining have water access ?

Very few do. And mine do not. The whole area is high desert, except the creek (Lee Vining Crk) that feeds into Mono Lk, theres little water.

I think I’ve met him. Funny.

I work for San Fran and we do annual or biannual sanitary inspections of their “septic” system and horse corrals at glen aulin. Although not last year after the crazy wash out.

Switched departments recently though so probably won’t make it up there much anymore.

There's a cut through road from Basset to Hennessy rd. Cuts some of that drive time/distance down.

Edit. Just looked on the other map. That is the route 12.
Gots some good look out areas on that cut threw.

    No way? Lol
What a small world. I’ll have to mention this to him.
Did you get to chill at all while out there or strictly business in and out?
That waterfall and stream of water going down the slabs below camp make for a nice little swim
