Just curious to see where everyone mounted them.

I just mounted stuff to the bed rail last week with monkey fists and some brackets which was a PITA because my roll up cover uses the bed rail and required me taking it apart first.

I would like to avoid that if at all possible.

I keep a first aid box and 10lb extinguisher unmounted in the pocket behind the driver side passenger seat next to the door (DCDB), and another 10lb in a bed box in my bed platform the shell.

Edit: For the bed, if you only have a Tonneau cover and want to mount one below it, why not mount yours on the side of the drivers side cubby door? Get one of those metal ones and mount to that so you dont drill your bed side?

If you want total safety (in a perfect world), you should mount one somewhere within reach of the drivers seat, and put a remote control cable activated fire supression set in the engine compartment (like marine units on boats), or just hang a couple of these under the hood

Well, it does use gasoline. I just keep extinguishers mainly in the event I have to help other people, hopefully I will never need one for my truck.

Yup, and never under it. Mine discharged in my 1st Toyota truck when my girlfriend at the time was trying to adjust the seat! The windows were closed and the cab filled with clouds, she stayed inside trying to stop it! Poor girl, I immediately opened the door and got her out to fresh air.

LOL, that would suck but it's pretty funny (apart from the whole Co2 thing). Lesson learned!!

Just installed a small auto extinguisher in a Blue Ridge Overland MOLLE pouch on the Cali Raised MOLLE panel on my bed. Seems like a good option and it's more solid than my DIY bracket I made before.

Not CO2!! It was powder, a total mess, and it was everywhere including inside the closed glove compartment.

I try to place the equipment, if possible, on the passenger side so it balances out the fuel tank.

Anyone mind sharing some links to extinguishers you've bought that fit well inside Tacoma compartments?

Get a Kiddie 10lb (or at least two 5lb ones for cab and bed) only get ABC rated ones too. They are available at WallyMart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

I guess I should clarify a little on what I was asking about.

Where and how are you mounting them? I know I could fit it behind the read driver side or passenger side in the fold down compartment. I am curious as to how people are securing it.

One drivers side/passenger floor area on a QR and the other in the bed cubbie with a clear marking on the door.

Ah- mine just fits in the rear pockets in the corner near the door and I keep it in the box, if we roll, the seat back is tight enough to secure it. You could use velcro too.

Similar to the way @Cudgel mounted. Drake Motorsports mount on the bed rail. I like it a lot. Very solid and easy to release if need be.
