Is there a handful of parts you or others take on a secluded trip like that in case something happens? Common things that might break on a trail?

Lots. The OSK is a heavy pig of a box to bring. But worth it at times.

Yeah, looks like it and that doesn’t even have the gasket on it in the picture. Truck was running awful and seems to be fine now. The previous owner did two things before the sale... that and the MAF... both were aftermarket junk that failed in a few months. Glad I changed both!

    OSK:

    -motor oil
    -gear oil and pump
    -LBJs
    -inner tie rod
    -outer tie rods
    -Jack stands
    -Fan belts
    -2 30' tow straps
    -50' winch extension
    -3 shackles
    -snatch block
-Full set of metric allen keys up to m14
    -breaker bar
    -35mm socket
-Zip ties, 1400 piece multi pack
-mini 5 or 8lb sledge hammer
    -6x6 wood blocks
    -tire patch kit

    Things I need to add:

-Pieces of hose in various sizes
    -Fuses of various things

Of course full setup of tools, which I am going through and redoing this year to down size having multiples of things I don't need and to make sure I have all the bigger stuff like 19mm, 21mm, 24mm. Floppy head ratchet end wrenches are worth their weight in gold IMO for trail tools too. I also have an electrical tool kit i have i put together for work which has other wiring stuff and soldering station..but i don't always grab that except for bigger trips that are really remote.

I also always have spare shoes in the truck and socks, toilet paper, some way to start a fire or 2, and a jacket/hoodie, gloves, and hat and usually 1-4 motorcycle ratchet straps.

I take all that stuff with me no matter how small the trip. Not just for myself but others I may encounter.

I also have the first aid kit, the kitchen/fire box, OBA box all in the truck.

I keep things in military boxes so its easy to load up and unload in like 5-10mins. So I always grab it all.

Other things to look at your setup is batteries. I only have 2 lights that use AAA batteries otherwise everything we use is rechargeable via USB ports which I have lots to spare in the truck. One less thing to worry about for me.

Im sure im forgetting things. But thats the jist of it.

Man and I thought I brought a lot with me on day trips lol. Some really good ideas here though, I'll have to add to my kit.

Since busting a CV that one time I always have at least one spare axle with me and the appropriate tools to swap. I also always bring extra clothes and warm clothes even if it's a day trip...never know if something happens and you may end up on the trail overnight. Also another plus for keeping the RTT on.

Been a part of many runs where other guys don't carry any tools and have needed to use mine...loose drain plugs, shock mounts, exhaust hangars, etc. I never understood how someone could justify going somewhere remote without at least bringing a basic tool set. And zip ties......zip ties work for so many things.

Zipe ties, duck tape, wd40 and rachet staps can fix almost anything long enough to get to a safe place lol

oh..duh. CV axle. Forgot that. Though thats tricky for me as one truck takes standard ones and one takes tundras. I don't have a spare tundra axle right now.

You forgot water, probably one of the most important things to bring... even though that doesn’t need to be on a list, people should just grap that with out having to think about it...
