Some pretty spots in this thread.

I've been looking at kayaks a little, researching to maybe buy towards the end of the year.

I live in Las Vegas, Lake Mead is here but can get pretty choppy and I'm not sure this would be a good place for one. Are there any places that rent high end kayaks already decked out to try? Sounds like a fun weekend if I could find a nice spot worth traveling to. Also would be nice to try first hand before investing in.

You can put in almost anywhere, the beaches are great. You can paddle out to boulder island for fun .
Check out kayaklasvegas.com you can get guided tours or self guided . They have decent kayaks.
Give it a try. Willow beach is pretty cool also

Willow Beach is a great spot to launch for the Black Canyon Water Trail- go on Sundays or Mondays- they don’t allow any motorized boats/watercraft those days so the water is calm. Lots of coves and beaches. I have yet to paddle all the way up to Hoover Dam from Willow Beach, I’m too out of shape but we always go at least a few miles up and we always enjoy it. Also, crawdad cove at Lake Mead is a good spot. Enjoy!

Looks nice. Are there any good fishing spots up north of it? Ever ride down to the hot springs?

I haven’t fished there (or anywhere since I was about 12. Sorry)- I haven’t made it as far as the Hot Springs- I know that’s easier if you launch at the Dam, but you need a permit or pay for one of the local outfitters to launch there.

I was thinking of getting a kayak and launching out Nelsons landing at lake Mohave. There are some small lakes up North like Peoch. Not far from Vegas.

Best Rack out there in IMO. Light weight and strong. All aluminum. Get compliments everywhere I go.

Love the rack, I have the same one coming in soon. What kayak racks are you using and how did they mount up? Thanks

Thanks and congrats . Couple of drilled out holes per side and those are Thule hooks.
Going with Yakima saddles and rollers for ease . REI has 20% off till 28th. It makes a big difference in loading and unloading:)

Had the boat out to the last this weekend, It's always a learning curve, especially with the new 3rd Gen.
Worked out well, figured out the best way to get it on is from the side. I little bit of a pain getting it over the Maxtrax mounts but once it's up there it's solid.

I ended up modding the Prinsu to get the last bar on there behind the sharkfin,
    Drilled one hole to flip the bar vertical. The Malone mounts are great - just needed to lift the rear mount because we paddle a Prospector;

Nice setup ! I have a dissent offroad setup front and rear racks. Like you I have had to modify the rack myself as the maker promised accessories to do the things I needed but after a year has not come threw .
    Your mods look great !!!
