I use mostly dewalt, husky, craftsman, and Pittsburgh. I always find myself grabbing the husky or Pittsburgh stuff more often than not tho. Great tools

I inherited my father in laws Matco tool cart loaded with snap on tool's in every drawer. He used the tools for 40 years every single day as a mechanic. When I got them I hit them with steel wool, you literally wouldn't be able they are not brand new. I have no idea how much money I'm sitting on in tools, but I would say these things are definitely worth paying more for.

I bet a lot of guys on here are mechanics and or guys with extra money to blow. I wasn’t talking bad about your post. I was just putting something out there that worked for me. Your right they get me by. I don’t work the auto industry so the amount I use the tools I didn’t need to spend $1000+ to get the same amount of tools. I have had the kit for a couple years now and the kit still looks brand new and basically is.

Well, then I stand corrected. Small world. This is the first time I noticed. All good.

Personally the gearwrench ratchets are pretty hard to beat and I have mostly Snap On, BP, Craftsman (USA) and SK.

If I did it all again I would have bought gearwrench everything when it came to sockets and ratchets. My .02.

I way disagree. You don't learn unless you do. Sometimes you need to break stuff.

If I had to wait to work on anything until I could afford really good tools, I'd never get to doing anything. Get good tools when it makes sense, eventually you'll learn when you need a good tool. You just need to get out there a do.

Harbor Freight makes some tools that work just fine. I have bought plenty and have used them plenty. For a hand tool that get's constant use (like a wrench), I'd probably opt for something a little better quality. The fit, finish, and design of those tools will really make the difference and make you appreciate them more than a lesser tool. Still, I just can't justify spending the money on some high end tools. I have a HF drill press that works fine enough and it was $40 compared to $500+ for an American equivalent.

That's easy when you aren't paying for them.

    They are nice wrenches though.

Really wish someone would gift me some Snap On tools!

They’re expensive to buy, almost don’t want to use them they cost so much.

Although, I find I’ve put a SnapOn 12pt socket on something rounded off and it always comes off, every time.

I have a really difficult time passing up those 50-75% off deals on MasterCraft or Stanley socket sets at Canadian Tire. I'd be buying a new set every week if I caved. I was able to justify the first 3 sets. One for home. One for the cottage. One in my 'go' box for road trips. Still have a hard time not picking up another set when I see those too good to be true bargains.

Anyhow, whatever you decide on, I recommend getting a bunch of adaptors and extensions of various legths to go along with your sockets. I bought them on an as needed basis. Should have just gotten it over with all at once.

I will not use or let anything from HF in my garage. My tools are an investment and I have a lot of pride in them. HF might work for some people but it's not for me!

My dad likes to go buy crap from HF and if he comes in my garage with that stuff I just point to the door and he laughs. But also puts that shit back in his truck...

I have some snap on and Mac but the majority is Carlyle Tools. That stuff is a good happy medium.

Oh yeah bud I didn't take that the wrong way man . Just saying for the money it's a great all around kit that can handle some abuse . You are right there are different tier options and after the halfway point the money is hard to justify unless it's used often .

Lowes Kobalt sockets/wrenches. Eastwood digital torque-angle wrench. Relatively inexpensive, and reliable so far.
