Hi Lift Question

So, I have come into a Hi Lift jack. Pretty cool. One question I have however is how exactly one uses it on a Gen 3 Tacoma? I don't think it will reach in to the jack points shown in the owner's manual.

Now, I can always use a Hi Lift jack mate and lift by the wheel (already ordered one).

But are there other places where you can safely use it on the G3 Tacoma (somewhere up front, the trailer hitch, etc.)?

You need sliders or bumpers.

 

REAL SLIDERS..... check out @Mobtown Offroad they even have an adaptor to grab them with a high-lift. They’ve got my vote for best of the best. Good luck!

 

It says "weld on"...does that mean it has to be welded onto my truck?

I have no objection whatsoever to sliders. But I am tall and could probably just step into the truck even with a 2-3" lift. My short wife and 9 year old son are less likely to be keen on them (we've already gone 12 rounds over the "Lund" bars that came on the truck; I hate them and wanna dump them and they don't).

Is there a lower hanging option that would hold the jack weight of the truck?

Mobtown does both bolt on and weld on, but yes weld on sliders are welded to the frame

 

Is there an adapter or base for the OEM Tacoma bottle jack (I don't know what else to call it) that comes with the truck that might make it a little more stable for off road?

 

@Mobtown Offroad makes both weld on and bolt on sliders, and like other builders, I believe they can change the angle so they work a bit more easily as steps and can still be Hi-lifted.

I went with a local builder in Lomita (near Long Beach) for mine and special ordered a 5-degree angle for easier steps, @Shmellmopwho - he does good work too. Ryan makes a great adapter for the Hi-lift to go on sliders, not sure if he ever tackled bottle jacks though. Ask him about it if you do contact him.

and like the other person said -- real sliders - not body mounted steps that some company's call rock sliders.

 

It does have a wider base, which I think I would like in the offroad environment. Its minimum height is 11"....enough to get under an unlifted G3 Taco.

@AgingDisgracefully - yes, as is, you can use the hi-lift in your trailer hitch. As mentioned on the other thread about winches, if you have a front reciever hitch, you can also use the hi-lift in front.

And, the hi-lift also makes a good field winch! Thats why there are holes and loops built into it.

Ive used one to stretch barb-wire for fencing, pull out fence posts, move rocks, lift my trailer tongue, as well as lift my truck.

I have those parts and an adaptor to let's me use it with the factory Jack as well .
But prefer it with the bottle jack
