I’ve also read in instructions for a few Jeep axle trusses that recommend welding the truss on the axle while under the vehicles normal weight if you weren’t putting it in a fixture

Why's that? Sounds like that could make the warping worse, both the weight of the vehicle and the shrinkage of the weld want to bow the housing into a smiley face, or am I thinking that I incorrectly?

I’m not sure. I’ve got theories but never really looked too much into it. I didnt end up doing them. After I explained what the risks were if we half assed it and didn’t pull the rear ends they went and found someone else willing to blow smoke up their asses. I’m confident we could of kept the tolerances well within spec but I prefer to give the customer the facts and let them make an educated decision.

If your welding to the top of the axle the weld will want to pull up, if there’s counterweight there it could help

I have to forgo my favorite part of wheeling...trail beers. He's not big on booze and I'm not too sure I could properly justify the idea behind trail beers on a morning-early afternoon run, lol. Maybe next time.

Doing Drinkwater Flats, figured I'd take him on a relatively easy and close one for the first time. We're at the top of Deer Pk now, he's enjoying it. I could really go for a beer though...

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

Ooooh nice. Only CAI worth a damn from what I hear, though I've always wondered how it holds up against heavy rain since its pulling air from right behind the grill. I had a CAI on my Scion years ago like that and a couple times during heavy downpours my car stalled on me lol.

They have a little condom "prefilter" that is supposed to be for wet weather. I don't have the one on the Miata so I'd probably use it here assuming it fits the cone... Not like we get much in the way of rain around here anyway.. and the truck is a driveway queen.

THe part I laff'd at was the AEM instructions that say to swap in the stock one in "inclement weather" I'm like mfers do you realize I had to take the entire front end apart?

Oh you should see how soaked I've pulled the stock one out before as well  no fender liners makes a HUGE difference... I imagine the lights/mesh up front are as much if not even more protection lol

Haha yeah, ask Mike @Mike likes Tacos about how exposed your air intake becomes when you cut your fender liners :p
