keep mice out of air filter?

How do you keep mice out of air filter?

 

Hey Jordan, Welcome to TW from south Texas!! I had a rodent problem, simple fix leave a mouse trap with a piece of chickin on it inside engine compartment and WHAM!!, that took care of my little friend!!

 

I put a piece of 1/4" hardware cloth on the inside of the air box over the elbow opening to keep the critters out.

 

Yea use some sort of screen to close off the opening to fresh air

 

Just remembered the other problem with mice with my 02 Taco.
I turned on my a/c blower for the first time in quite a while and it started making all kinds of racket. Stopped and open the hood and saw a mouse coming out of the area where the hood hinges are located. I guess that hole is connected to air intake for the a/c. I then stopped at a shop on the way home and the mechanic removed the blower and it was full of a mouse nest and mice. The mice were running around like they were drunk from the spinning.
To keep them out I stuffed stainless steel wool in the opening.
