Beer tap shifter install on automatic 2015

Does anyone know of an adapter of some kind or the best way to install a beer tap as a shifter knob? 3/8 to m8×1.25

 

I'll leave my thoughts on the beer tap handle to myself. It's your truck. Do what you want, but I can tell you that a bushing with an id of 8mm(5/16") and an OD of 3/8" would be way to thin to work. It would have to be offset with the internal threads in the bottom half and the external threads on the top half. Overall, the tap handle is going to be about the height of the radio. But, hey, it's your truck.

 

Thank you, I did some brainstorming. The tap handle does have a 3/8 stud that sticks out of the wood. I was thinking of I too a 1 inch thick steel rod about 3 inches long and drilled and tapped it to 3/8 all the way through and ran a 3/8 die down my shifter at the taper of the shifter that it would work. It would basically a longer version of the male to male adapter that is on the bottom of all taps.

And just curious what are the cons of a beer tap shifter? I dont want to possibly break anything on my truck.

 

Flash back... I had a selection of tap handles thanks to a friend, back in the 80s, my favorite was the T handle brass Budweiser logo.
Mind you this was in a '73 Mercury Capri...

I guess just expect to be walking a straight line heel to toe every time you see blue and red lights.

 

I'd say you didn't really leave your thoughts to yourself very well.

 

Aren't the shifter threads smaller than 3/8? You can't run a 3/8 die down that. Why not just do what you suggest with the steel rod but tap it for 3/8 on one end and M8x1.25 on the other?

Cons are it would stick up super high and look ridiculous but it's your truck

 

Nobody with a beer handle knob was ever driving drunk as a direct result of their knob choice.

 

Not every beer tap handle is huge.....I got a Rolling Rock one that is barely taller than the stock knob. Had it on a Willys wagon and a CJ years ago. Still have the handle, but just sits on a shelf now.

 

The shift rod is thick enough below the m8×1.25 threads it tapers out to where you could run a 3/8 thread down it. I'll have to draw it up, and if how I have it in my head it should be interchangeable with the stock knob. (If I dont decide to cut the stock threads off) and the new threads will be hidden for a quick change of knobs.

 

I rock this one every once in a while for shits n giggles

I feel like that is much more of a drift car #stancenation feel to it. That and they also stick up super far. My buddy had a light up dildo for his shifter, ahhhh highschool times.
